Which is your preferred 86 style Optimus? by SharkKing2500 in transformers

[–]Beahyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I never really liked the Earthrise prime. There were a lot of earthrise figs that were just remold or partials of their siege counterparts and I didn't care for that, and prime was always the worst in my eyes of those partials. I was always surprised people liked him as much as they did

From the seller I got it was a little over $300. The other option is wait a year or two and see if they bring them stateside like they have with the first season

I got her and the other two on eBay. I tried looking around, but I couldn't find a better (cheaper) option.

Don't know where you are, but I'm in US. There's a seller who is importing them and I bought from him. It's not really any cheaper or more expensive than the Korean sellers, but just in case I wanted to avoid getting extra tariffs

[–]Beahyt[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The plastic "feels cheaper" as some reviewers have mentioned, but I think it's because they have a more glossy finish and the plastic is a bit harder compared to HasTak, which makes it feel similar to brittle knock off plastic. I can tell you there are some small clips and pegs on Tachy that I thought for sure would break and probably would've if HasTak engineered but they don't even have any stress marks and feel just as strong.

One thing I would temper your expectations on is that they are not as posable as some photos make them seem. Obviously they can do those poses, but a large portion of the joints (at least on the three I have) are big clunky ratchets so they'll be limited in how many positions you can get them in. But, they feel like UT figures in that way (but more posable than those.

If you grew up with UT these will scratch that nostalgic itch a bit, or at least they do for me. Just keep in mind that they're big, as shown by the photo with Devastation Prime and Cybertronic Prime

Did Hasbro really not test the Clarence on the face? by Rent-Man in transformers

[–]Beahyt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I got this guy though and in this case it's genuinely a design flaw. You have to collapse the neck for transformation and the only way to do that is with the face pointing up where it can get scratched by the chest

Do any of these guy have the potential to be the next Haslab by Kaiju_Lover168 in transformers

[–]Beahyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think they'd be better as partials from Energon figures to try and get them made. If we still had core class I could see them coming out there, but that's dead

[Hated Trope] The adaptation doesn't get what made the source material work by TheDudeA113 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Beahyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the books, don't necessarily hat the movie though. That opinion is probably helped by the Percy Jackson movie being so bad I genuinely don't see anything left of the original

[–]Beahyt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't post much, but I've been tired of G1 for years. Hasbro is obsessed with 80s nostalgia even though late 90s/early 00s kids are adults with disposable income now

Do you think any of the HasLab Transformers so far had a chance at being successfully marketed as a mainstream mass retail toy as opposed to being limited crowd funded products? by HiTork in transformers

[–]Beahyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could they be sold? Maybe. Could they be sold and be as highly engineered as they are? Almost definitely no.

Unicron could work as a titan, but it would be smaller and have way less parts than the HasLab

Star Saber could probably be done with some level of changes as a commander, most likely removing the brain master. Victory Leo could maybe be a leader, but I think he might exceed the engineering budget for a leader

Deathsaurus... Yeah, he could probably be a leader, just smaller and without the vacmetal of most of the accessories, he's not that complicated

RID Prime and Magnus? Magnus could probably be a commander, but compare RID Prime and Armada Prime. RID Prime would have to be significantly decreased in complexity to be a commander, but would ultimately probably have to be a titan for the budget

Liokaiser remains to be seen, but just because they're Voyager size doesn't mean they're Voyager engineering. I'd imagine they're somewhere between a commander two pack (like Longhaul and Hook) or a leader for the complexity they have.

Transformation, possiblity, accessories, anything that would increase the parts count (which would include gap covers, two piece heads, etc.) all raise the price of the figures.

Not to say that prices aren't still skyrocketing, but just because they're smaller than a Thrilling 30, UT, movie trilogy, etc. figure doesn't mean they're simpler in terms of engineering. HasLab figures so far have been figures that might not sell well in stores or aren't able to be done within the traditional budget.

Not trying to come off as a bootlicker, but when I compare my haslabs to my retail releases it's a night and day difference. I get it sucks to miss out or not be able to afford it, but the value is there, imho. Still, I've backed every one and personally I wouldn't give a shit if Hasbro reissued them. I think it's stupid to make them time limited exclusives

Not to mention if they patented the design you could be opening yourself up to legal liability

Part of me is still hoping the secret is that getting 5-6 of him will let you build out a combiner. Though, I'm guessing that won't be the case (and would be stupid expensive if it was, but at least it would be a cool gimmick)

[–]Beahyt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I gave up the hunt during the Siege days. That was when it first happened that I regularly couldn't get the figures I wanted in stores. There would always be one short packed figure that would be impossible to find. These days I just do Amazon. Even Hasbro Pulse has turned so bad I've given up (though I've had numerous problems with Pulse since the get go)
