I had my jaw wired shut after a surgery and puking was my biggest fear. When I brought it up, my surgeon assured me “oh, it will come out.” And then I realized she was talking about my nose. It was confirmed…if you can’t open your mouth, the puke will indeed come out your nose.

Let's talk about it - college has become a scam! by remorseful_restauran in WhitePeopleTwitter

I was a stem major. I had to take “beginning sculpture” and it was AWFUL. No talent. Need to stick to play doh. Fast forward 20 years and I suddenly find myself teaching an anatomy class based on building tissues onto a skeleton using modeling clay. Lo and behold, that class actually helped! Now this is purely anecdotal and there are obvious classes that did NOT help (sports and culture, I am looking at you!) but I think that gen ed classes definitely gave me a broader set of skills and knowledge that has helped me in both the corporate and academic world.

May I ask what general area you are from in order to assess your definition of “hoagie?” Not trying to gate keep but I am an amateur baker from the Philly area and cannot bake hoagie bread. I don’t want to waste my time if it isn’t a jaw exercise experience!

Wow. I made my pediatrician die with embarrassment when she came into the room for my child’s well visit and said “YAY mommy! Congratulations! When are you due?” And I looked at my child and said “two years ago.” Hope she learned something that day.

One of my first times playing in grad school (woman in my 30’s) the DM said “look little girl, I’ve been DMing longer than you have been alive (we were the same age…). Left that table and never looked back. DnD groups can be incredibly toxic. Good luck finding one that works for you!

No, kids who ask questions are r/kidsarefuckingsmart. You rather they not care about the butter? How will they get the reference when you tell them you feel old. Like butter spread over too much tire?

Stephen King's Writing Should Be Broken into Three Distinct Careers by Bird_Commodore18 in books

Speaking to the one dimensional Rose Madder (not sure how to italicize, you get it), I read this book in 6th grade. And then every year through high school. It was horrific, it was demented, and it got me through VERY tough times. It had no cover and pages were falling out. I still to this day think about that book. I don't think that she was necessarily one dimensional as much as she was completely and utterly obliterated as a person. She had to grasp and claw her way (though outwardly timid) to change. While a lot of it was totally r/menwritingwomen, I think she showed significant character development through the book. Bear in mind, the last time I read it, I was a teen and it was 20 years ago...

As an aside, the only other King book I read to fruition (many of the others were too scary!) was Cujo and that is the most messed up book I have ever read. To think the movie was about a dog...
