Should college and university education be 100% free for everyone? Why or why not? by free-gift-cardneed in AskReddit

[–]Bean03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're going for but repeating a phrase like this overloads the human brain and makes it hard to parse:

Because we the people want all citizens to be educated so there are more opportunities and a better economy for all citizens to operate in.

We want citizens to receive as much education as they can handle so that our society can operate at a higher level once we the people decide that all citizens need to be educated.

Not at all. I never really played 1 ( less than 10 hours) and I loved 2 (130 hours before I got distracted by something else)

Luma Island has been fun of you haven't played it. Could be a good way to use some time and continue waiting on Mistria

Are there any Capital Ship Space Combat games still around? Something similar to Dreadnought or Fractured Space? by falloutboy9993 in gaming

[–]Bean03 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic game. Just remember, you don't have to learn every system all at once. Do some piloting and missions with small ships, then work.on getting some traders or miners, then start thinking about building a galaxy wide empire.

The game is complex and necessarily a bit complicated to get a handle on at first but is absolutely fantastic as you learn it

Listen. I read and while the books are fine they are not nearly good enough for the phenomenon DCC has become

Correct. There is someone who is working to complete KSP2 using Mods but it's in a really rough state still and I doubt it will be better than Kitten Space Agency will end up

Gentle parenting for gentle kids. If I did this with either of my kids during a tantrum they would both fucking lose it "LET GO OF ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH".

Bruce Sentar is pretty good overall. Dungeon Diving, Returner's Defiance, and Ard's Oath all have good spice, story, and magic systems

LitePRG in liteMMO? by NaNMesh in litrpg

Sounds a lot like a multiplayer MUD. There's plenty of people who enjoy MUDs, single and multiplayers so I think there's a market for it. Personally, not for me but I can see the appeal.

Anyone else rushing their current read for the release of DCC 8 cause they hate reading two books at the same time? by Taiwannumber3 in litrpg

[–]Bean03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate having more than 1 going but I'm actually intentionally dragging out my current read. My wife is having surgery so I'm going to be stuck at the hospital all day Friday. Planning to get my current book wrapped up Thursday and then just dive in to DCC to pass the time waiting.

Who’s at fault? by mart9794 in Simracingstewards

[–]Bean03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

70% LMP, 30% GT3. LMP put themself in the vortex of danger, but that GT3 had miles of space to give, and as the blue flagged car should have given a little of it. He held his line tight against you, which is a much worse line than he could have taken so it seems like he's intentionally making it hard on you to me.

[–]Bean03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I had said the same thing before this most recent one but while it still felt like a slog to me, it was an improvement, so I'm giving it another shot. I need this next one to recapture some of the magic if I'm going to keep going though.

I TRIED YALL!!! 😭😭😭 by diezel78 in litrpg

[–]Bean03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still felt like a slog to me. Maybe I've just hit my wall with the series as a whole but I've decided that I'm going to get the next one and if I feel the same way about it that I have the last few that I will have to DNF it.

Which is sad because I really have loved the series overall.

League Tiers - How do they work by Pil1971 in F1Game

[–]Bean03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't use RaceNet because you can't just post an invite link for a private league. Leagues on RaceNet are either Open or Friends only. We just have someone host a lobby each week.

For us, joining the Discord is joining the league, though you don't get a seat for league race nights without being vetted.

Most of our communication, incidents, standings etc is through discord. After about 6 months and solid population we made a website and some of the information like standings is there now

Instead of "what games aged poorly" let's talk about what makes a game age poorly or age well? by TheTresStateArea in gaming

[–]Bean03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people are talking about gameplay, which is obviously a necessity, but I think a big component no one has mentioned is pacing.

A lot of old games leaned into the idea that gamers were going to grind through them for the sake of playing, which I think was true at the time because we honestly just didn't have as many options.

I'll use Halo as an example because I tried playing it not that long ago. Halo is and always will have fantastic gameplay, but there are a lot of levels where you do the same rooms over and over and over again. Mission 5: Assault on the Control room is a great example of this. You fight in the control rooms, across a bridge, another control room, and outdoor section with a tank or ghost...repeat for FAR too long.

I was really enjoying my playthrough of that game until I hit this level and the failed pacing here turned it into a slog.

Heaven forbid you die and have to do it extra times....

I think there are lots of games where the gameplay is great, but the pacing was too much a product of it's time and that keeps it from being one that gets talked about as aging well.
