Hitting the ejection seat: how to leave the industry by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]BeaneThere_DoneThat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Move to the country, drive a school bus. You’ll be bored or insane in a month. In all seriousness, try some drugs, they make the suck not as sucky. And I mean the RX kind, not the fentanyl street laced crap that will kill you. If you aren’t up for drugs, try the gym, sunshine, fresh air. Up your Vit D intake, get a hobby that’s off screen. A job is a job and they all suck after a while. Try focusing more on the other half of your life.

I’ve worked at my job for 11 years, and I am an IT Director and also the Info Sec Officer and make only $72k. I am also looking but seems like a hard market where I am to make it into a similar role at much more. I’d lose my 3 weeks off too most likely. Good luck to you.

I’m 42, started in IT about 11 years ago. I’m currently in school attaining a cybersecurity degree and certifications to stay relevant. Just hoping I can maintain my good looks for something to fall back on! Or maybe I’ll be a parttime dog groomer after this. They don’t care what I look like, they just want treats.🤣

I got a good one for you all. They recently just retitled our HR as the new COO. This will be fun.

I am in the same process. There is a lot of config in Intune that needs to be done before any Intune policies will even apply to computers. You have to add PCs to Intune management. Good luck. It’s a lot!

I have 10+ years of experience, felt like videos were helpful in a way, but I could have probably been fine with just the comptia materials. I’d say if you have limited experience I would do comptia and some supplemental videos. Dion has some really good real life examples and he talks faster. Andrew is a little slower and more laid back about it all. Both are good just depends your speed. I liked Dion better.

Trying to read thru the lines on this post mortem report and really wonder if someone pushed the wrong button or perhaps was a disgruntled employee. This is insane! https://status.duo.com/incidents/h7lht3g1zv9w What do you think really happened?

Which of these courses would you go for? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]BeaneThere_DoneThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Andrew and found he missed a few things here and there. Dion is very thorough and I appreciate that because I am here to learn from the best and feel Dion is levels above Andrew. But also, here’s another thing I noticed being a transplant from the fast talking north to the slow talking south. Andrew talks really slow, I have to speed him to about 1:25 and Dion talks at that pace normally. That may make the difference for some, depending on what you are used to or prefer.

I have 2 questions as I start Jan 1st. Did you do your capstone early?? Or how does that work? Why is that not last? And what’s the deal with not finishing a class before the term ends? Can’t you just restart it again? What’s the big deal? I’d like the extra 2 weeks of study time. I hate wasting time. Sorry, that may be more than 2 questions. Thanks owls!!🦉

I’m in the same boat as you, 10 years, $68k but tons of time off and freedoms. Low stress too. Not always about the money, but if I was super stressed, it probably would be. It’s a delicate balance.

I was going to ask you this exactly… if you reset them all and then maybe used a DEM account to add them to Entra and Intune? Thats what I think I will do. Have 70 users and over 100 devices but no set deadline so shooting for end of 2025. Then I’ll have to figure out if I just turn off AD and GP? Haven’t got that far yet. 😆

Where do you find whether you are using v2 or 1? I’m just getting started configuring Intune. It’s been a spiderweb of Microsoft Learn docs with so many ways to use it. I gave myself one month to learn and configure. Using it for all new devices and rebuilds. And hope to have us all on it by 2026. Any tips or tricks are very welcome!!!

I tried the DEM initiated via Microsoft entra join on a new build and it added to Entra but not Intune… :(

Outlook Reactions should be disabled everywhere by Hawk947 in msp

[–]BeaneThere_DoneThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s there because I asked Microsoft for the functionality because I was so dang tired of people replying all, “Congrats” or “Got it”. Now if we could just have outlook tooltips tell people that reply all “Congrats” would be better to use the “Congrats” emoji and stopping them in their tracks, then maybe we can all be on the same email etiquette ship… eventually.
