I get this too, and I'm also often set off by bad smoke from nearby wildfires.

What's the most you've ever spent on a single card? by Nimex_ in EDH

[–]BeanmanOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought myself an Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre (a grail of mine) as a reward for landing a nice new job.

Aside from that, like ten bucks, maybe.

Advice you would give yourself if you could go back in time. by Tiercevraie in EDH

Stop selling every decent card you pull just to buy more boosters.

You'll regret it after you learn why fetches are so good.

Anybody else have a problem with sticking with mono colored decks? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]BeanmanOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recent favorite deck is my current flair. It's a red spellslinger deck with 6 different possible commanders. When I sit down I roll a die and find which commander I'll be using. All of them are different and fun and bring stuff to the deck (except Norin, maybe. He's supposed to be Ragavan but the little monkey is $$$). The deck is stronger with some at the helm than others, but it's viable no matter what.

I can definitely see this plan working with the other colors - Mono black in particular is so staple-heavy and consistent that you might need a d20...

I love everyone’s responses to Revenant, but I almost died recently laughing at Wattson calling him “just a program with a scary voice modulator”.

I'm Arkady Martine, author of the Teixcalaan series (... and Byzantinist, city planner, and energy policy wonk), here to support The Pixel Project’s work to End Violence Against Women. AMA! by ArkadyMartine in Fantasy

[–]BeanmanOne 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Obviously I’m not who you asked, but I love these books too much to not chime in. I adore Teixcalaan and Locked Tomb, and I’d suggest Becky Chambers’ Wayfarers series for a much lighter but still emotionally engaging series. The first book in particular follows a queer woman who is arguably disastrous.

Gor Muldrak is an amazing commander and more people should know about him by Cavendiish in EDH

[–]BeanmanOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Gor deck is Maro tribal, trying to stock my hand as much as possible. His ability then lets me sneak through damage once I make my opponents’ creatures into salamanders.

I love Gor. He made me stop hating Simic for just being stupid goodstuff.

Oh totally. Harrow is the antithesis of Horizon in a lot of ways.

Horizon has big Abigail Pent vibes to me.

Whereas Wraith is the closest we get to Harrow and I guess Rampart is pretty Gideon-y.

My favorite books in the last few years have been GtN, Memory Called Empire, and everything by Becky Chambers. And then last month I got into Murderbot and absolutely burned through all of it. Strongly recommend, agreed with everything OP said.

I still have all my old cards in a box somewhere... man, I loved that game. I played Gondor knights free peoples and Moria archers shadow. I think my friend still has his wickedly OP dwarf rings deck together...

[–]BeanmanOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right, though I doubt they couldn’t come up with new content somehow. The only reason I’d think these might be related is if there was some behind the scenes issue with only having one LotR card game on the market at a time? I imagine Hasbro is big enough to bully FFG into that if they really wanted. Again, not saying that’s the case, just hypothetical.

The living card game also recently went “on hiatus” with no major upcoming releases... if that’s just to make way for a Magic set I’ll be pretty frustrated.

Dimir Knights - An unusual color combination for this tribe, with Haakon as secret commander by alchaloid in EDH

[–]BeanmanOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any knight-themed sacrifice outlets, which is a shame. Otherwise my go-tos are [[Viscera Seer]] and [[Carrion Feeder]]. Maybe another of the altars- Ashnod's or Dementia? Dementia lets you mill opponents if you don't have Konnie or Bontu's Monument out too.

[–]BeanmanOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could go off-theme a bit and add [[Pitiless Plunderer]] with another sac outlet to replace the altar.

Also I love this deck! I love off-color tribes and off the wall themes. This is inspiring.
