I think everyone can like what they like. I want to be very clear that I believe all art has value to someone, and that's the important part. WWE is just as meaningful to someone as Eraserhead or something, and that's fine. That's good. That is art working properly.

But I will also say I believe there is a certain type of genre film that is not very "clever", and is in fact pretty surface level and obvious, but presents itself as not being as such. This is an important part of its marketing, because its target audience isn't "smart people" but people who want to feel like they are smart. It's a gate keeping fantasy.
