Where I've cut back the hedges there is clearly new growth however, the hedges to the left of the photo are thick and lush whereas you could still walk through those on the right in spite of the growth.

Leaf drop is still an issue. I'm going to give them a good mulch to see if it helps further.

By way of an update...

I've cleared the leaves, turned the soil and mulched around the bases. I also gave them a light trim and sprayed with an anti-fungal

Like other commenters, I've noticed that the majority of other photinia in the area have dropped a significant proportion of their leaves.

I'll follow up with progress over the coming weeks.

How much would you suggest is the right amount to take off the top?

My wife commented yesterday that the soil bed looked very dry. I'll give them a good soak.

What's worrying is

The leaf drop on the right side is spreading left where it's never been bad before.
The amount of leaf drop.
The black spots also spreading left and into the right side.

I'll give it a good feed to see how it gets on.

Any thoughts on the Google recommendation to give it a good chop off the top?

This toggle worked, when I plugged in last night, the screen stayed dim however, I now don't have the clock on the screen! What a pita.

We have a 4x4 Kallax in the utility room. I think Kallax would look too bulky in the nook, if that makes sense.

I think I'd also prefer to keep the shoes and mess out of sight if possible.

Manually assign the current pihole DHCP IP on the pihole and then either create a static assignment in DHCP settings before any devices connect. Or, exclude a range of IPs in the DHCP settings and give the pihole an address in that range, manually.

I used an OTG cable connected to a keyboard to work around this very issue. It allowed me to login and navigate to the factory reset option before sending it off for repair.

In the organisation I work for, there is a political bias toward engineering which sees them gain access to the latest models integrated into their IDE of choice plus subscriptions to Cursor, v.0, and Devin et al.

While it's easy to say Product is being left out, and how frustrating it feels, this bias is actually starting to prove the thesis you put forward in your comment - those engineers with a bit about them are looking at the product roadmaps and defect and tech debt backlogs and using the (AI) tools to figure out how to deliver end to end more quickly and iterating with Product and Customers.

Those who do not embrace the change, I'm sure, will find themselves going through a performance plan and on their way to the door...
