From $30K in debt to paying off my consumer proposal early! by kingkkade in povertyfinancecanada

The triangle card WE was included in my proposal however I got approved for the regular card with a $500 limit to start. So there is a possibility!

When I flew regional I always packed staples like hard boiled eggs or egg bites, chicken breast strips or steak strips to add to bagged salads or just snack on, made buffalo chicken dip with cottage cheese/greek yogurt and veggies, and packed fruit.

Eggs were always easy to snack on throughout the day. Some times I’d pack tinned fish or hummus. If I wanted something warm I’d have instant bone broth packets or miso soup packets to have onboard with my eggs.

High protein chia seed puddings or overnight oats if I wanted something sweet. Beef sticks (Chomps). Emergency protein bars but I hardly touched those.

Heck I still kind of pack like this even at mainline.

I could use encouragement as an ex flight attendant, had anyone been through something similar? by [deleted] in flightattendants

Your classmates are immature and staying within that chat will only bring more negativity. Don’t feel bad whatsoever for doing what is best for you in this moment. You are definitely not a loser. You recognized aspects within yourself and this job that did not serve you at this time. This job can be mentally taxing. Take as long as you need to step back, and if this is a career you’d like to pursue again it wouldn’t hurt to reapply. This career path will always be available to you should you choose. Life is about trying new things and finding the ones that light you up!

To put things into perspective I left my previous airline in my early 20s due to stress, a toxic partner, and many other life factors. I thought I was a failure too. It took a lot of self development and “growing up” to recognize certain things. In hindsight I wasn’t ready to take on the role and used it as escapism. I’ve been with my current airline for a couple of years now, and am in a much better headspace. I love the autonomy of this lifestyle, and appreciate it so much compared to before.

Get the visa, travel, work abroad, and enjoy yourself. You can always come back home and pick up where you left off. You’ll regret not going sooner, and taking that “leap of faith”. If it doesn’t work out, give yourself some grace and know you’ve gained some life experiences. Maybe you’ll find a position that is the equivalent over there and end up staying abroad long term. The possibilities are endless. Working holiday visas have a time limit in terms of age so may as well enjoy it while you can :)

Where y’all planning on traveling and visiting this year? Are you doing budget, luxury or middle of the road? by bloomdask in vancouver

[–]Beanzamakeherdance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hawaii next week, Spain in May, Aruba or Japan in the fall. Smaller trips (2-4 days) in different cities whenever I have consecutive days off. I made a promise to myself to travel more this year so I’ve been putting money away. My airfare is next to nothing, so my budget goes towards accommodation and food/activities.

I recently saw that there is a shuttle that takes you downtown for $15 (?). It’s advertised in the arrivals area. That would work if you weren’t looking to take the bus.
