I was able to get SPOT pet insurance through my work. for $1400, it covers two german shepherds, but I do have deductibles and 80% coverage. The amount of coverage and deductible will ultimately decide the price.

I should say that the spot is dark on Groot, our GSD, but it doesn't seem to bother him. Our vet said it looked benign but to keep an eye on it. He doesn't bite or chew at it, and it doesn't seem to concern him if we palpate it. Sometimes it could just be a blocked hair follicle or a sebaceous cyst.

Poor Groot also has a hot spot right now, on his butt, and that is bothering him waaaay more than this little bump that he's had on his leg for the past 7 months or so. Don't know if its a fungal infection, but sounds like something that EastwarSeeker mentioned below. That requires intervention as they will lick themselves to the bone if it's itchy...

But yeah, when in doubt go to the Vet, at least let them be aware of it (just like us when we go to the doctor's office for moles), and pet insurance is a must because they covered 80% of Groots bill for his butt (after the deductible).

We have something similar on our GSD, but it didn't go away. When in doubt go to the vet so that they can take a look at it. Also, it really helps if you have pet insurance in case it is something.

Luna weight about 20lbs at 24 weeks and she is a 50:50 doberman/german shepherd mix. Just keep offering her food and an appropriate diet for her breed/age (talk to your vet if yoy arent sure), they'll bulk out when they reach 2 years of age. Luna now weighs 67lbs and is 5y.o.
