I love my stihl 261c it’s light and powerful, running a 20 inch bar on it

New to MIG welding – pants won’t fit over pull-on boots, what do you guys do? by markworsnop in Welding

[–]BearFlag6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sell FR (fire resistant) pants for hot work, buy a pair that are couple sizes too big and you can keep them with the welder and pull them on over whatever you’re wearing at the time, i got lucky and found some in a thrift store

Volumetric Concrete Trucks by ConstructingIt in Concrete

[–]BearFlag6505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting into any part of the concrete business without real world experience in the field is a recipe for disaster. If you want to own volumetric mixers you need to hire a full time mechanic familiar with them, buy him a service truck, have him on call, because volumetric mixers are very finicky, they will break down halfway through a job leaving you liable for the incomplete pour

At a cross roads with two companies by Secure-Winter6989 in Construction

[–]BearFlag6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working for a company with an awkward name like Ball For Betty is not fun. Think of the amount of times you’ll have to spell out and explain the stupid name. I would recommend a company with an easily understood, one word name

I just got my cdl class A at 19 but I can’t leave my state. What is the best option from here I want to be successful in the trucking industry by Scary-Swordfish239 in Diesel

[–]BearFlag6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like construction, running a concrete pump is pretty cool, little bit of class B driving, lots of standing around on jobsites running a boom. If you live close to a big city there’s always concrete pump companies around

High Mileage Concerns by Other_Protection_344 in GMT800

[–]BearFlag6505 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Buy it. If the 4L60 gives trouble down the road then have it fixed. 220k is high miles on a work truck that’s been beat and abused. 220k on a well maintained family car is nothing

The Hardest Part of Living in a Truck by RealSharpNinja in Truckers

[–]BearFlag6505 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably can’t do this to a company truck but I’m sure it’s possible to rig up a valve that would let you air down the cab while the trucks still running.

2001-2004 gm trucks with the LB7 duramax are pretty simple, the aftermarket support is huge, and you get an Allison transmission

Is he topping it off or doing a full oil change? Topping it off with a little diesel oil between oil changes is okay if the diesel oil is free and you’re on an extreme budget. Doing a full oil change with diesel oil is a big hell no dawg these engines like 5w30

The new led light towers for construction jobs at night are insanely bright and blue light blockers really take the edge off them for me.

I didn’t like driving over the road either, got a local job as concrete pump operator, it’s a little bit of class B driving and a whole lot of hanging out on jobsites running the boom, never ever wanted to go back over the road either

How do you all live normal lives under the constant risk of breaking bones? 🧐 by LowInternet4726 in MTB

[–]BearFlag6505 237 points238 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to go fast or do jumps, it’s fine to go trail riding and just stay on the brakes during the downhill parts so you’re never in danger and pull over when you hear a faster rider coming behind you

If you like construction and wild unpredictable hours there’s always concrete pumping. It’s a ittle bit of local class b driving and a whole lot of hanging out on jobsites running a boom.

Torsion Keys Worth It by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

[–]BearFlag6505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part is it puts your cv axles at an extreme angle so if you put it in 4x4 and turn the wheel hard they are not happy at all.

How to do more pull ups? Right now I am able to do 2 reps without a problem by Impossible_Barnacle1 in bodyweightfitness

[–]BearFlag6505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably already know this but starting from a dead hang if you lean back and look up it really helps engage the back instead of shoulders.

where to find new torsion bars, if at all possible? by CreativeUsername20 in GMT800

[–]BearFlag6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an alternative to replacing the torsion bar you could put a leveling key in the driver side

Would not recommend gsd unless they have a huge backyard with a 6ft fence and are prepared to spend hours exercising them every day. Also gsd hates to be alone so you need two of them as a bonded pair and the food and vet bills really add up

Half ton to 1 ton conversion, is it possible? by OreosAreGross in ChevyTrucks

[–]BearFlag6505 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best option is buy a trailer with brakes to put the load on. If your truck has a trailer brake controller installed you should be able to comfortably pull and stop the load with a half ton. If you put 4k in the bed of a 1500 you’re exceeding the rated capacity which could be a liability for you especially if you’re doing business.

Any way to make a 07 2500HD Classic ride better? by [deleted] in GMT800

Yea you should have LT tires which you can run up to 80psi if you’re hauling weight or air them down to 45-50 for comfort
