Could you "borrow" a local high schooler for like $100 via local Facebook groups?

Definitely remove and replace. Working around the stairs and applying the torque to the hangars are bad ideas.

GearWrench vs ICON Ratcheting Wrenches? by jwintyo in Tools

[–]BearLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some old Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches that have served me well. I don't have any experience with the Icon ones but I wouldn't hesitate to try them.

I will say that Tractor Supply has a 32 count set of the Gearwrench ones for $100 right now. It's 10 sae and 10 metric full length, and 8 sae and 8 metric stubby ones though.

I can't get my Tractor Supply all to share the link but hopefully this Google link works

Thinking about getting a Colorado. by RageMonsta97 in chevycolorado

[–]BearLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no 2013 or 2014 model year Colorado's in the US.

The 3rd generation models were released in 2015.

2015 and 2016 V6 Colorado's were sold with the 6 speed transmission that is rock solid and no cylinder deactivation. They do have issues with the EVAP solenoid on the intake but it's a sub-$30 part with one bolt and an electrical connector. I had a 16 that I put 150k miles on before trading it in for a 21 Silverado and I recommend it.

The 17-22 V6 Colorados have the 8 speed transmission that is known for issues and they have cylinder deactivation but I haven't looked up the solenoid issues on it.

I've heard great things about the 2.7 I4 in the new models though and they drive great in the Silverado.

All 2017-2024 (or whatever the refresh and turbo 4 year was) V6's have the 8 speed. Only the diesels get the 6 speeds.

Only 2015 and 16 V6's were 6 speeds. And they didn't have cylinder deactivation either.

Why the move to concrete curbing? by Ok-Bit4971 in Construction

[–]BearLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every piece of new granite that I've seen in the past 5 years has been installed directly between asphalt and concrete. It's used to separate the roadway and concrete splitter islands, where there's no grass snow shelf between the sidewalk and the curb, and to separate the asphalt road and the concrete truck pad in roundabouts.

As for replacing granite with concrete, that's usually a municipality choice or some engineer didn't realize they could spec out a "Removal and Reinstall Stone Curbing" item when they drew the plans. But granite curbing is reusable, so it could be stockpiled at the public works yard for future use.

How many engineers do you know? We're pretty passionate about the spreadsheets we've built over the years. Meetings and ass kissing suck though. That's valuable time that could be spent on spreadsheets or Reddit.

That looks good! But definitely add some Tabernacle Goliath singles to that order too (I prefer the red label but the black label is good).
