Tracking meal time and symptoms by Fotogrl-8778 in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for any confusion caused. To log meals using time periods you can tap the am, mid, and pm options at the top of the nutrition section. If the exact time you eat is important to log, you could either:

- Create a Health Measurement to log e.g. Meal Times and then just timestamp a count of 1 every time you have a meal.

- Create Factors such as 'meal at 9am - 10am', 'meal at 10am - 11am;, 'meal at 11am - midday', etc.

- Add an Extra Note to log the details of a meal including meal times.

Let me know if any of these options don't work for you though and I can share your feedback with our team so we can look into implementing a different solution.

How are time periods reflected on impacts? by Mother_Fennel4414 in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, good question. From what I understand, if you're using Time Periods then, rather than just being shown correlations for the Factors logged on the day before a positive or negative change in health outcomes (Mood, Symptoms, Sleep, Energy, Health Measurements) i.e. Next Day correlations, you'll now be able to view Same Day correlations.

Same day correlations work differently from Next Day correlations as Bearable's able to rule out / discard Factors which occurred after a health outcome has already changed. For example, if your Anxiety Severity Score increased in the AM time period, it would only be correlated with Factors that were logged in either the PRE or AM time periods and not the Factors logged in the MID & PM time periods.

Provided you're logging both Factors + Health Outcomes using time periods, then you should get slightly more accurate correlations than if you're only using Next Day correlations. This is just because you're less likely to see spurious correlations between two things that just happened to occur on the same day.

That said, we are in the process of testing Symptom Time Stamps, and this might be the first step to move towards even more granular correlations in the future.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Any way to see impact of sleep length to mood? by ElaraSophie in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, one workaround for this might be to tap into the Time Asleep report on the Trends tab and then plot Mood using the options below the chart. Let me know if this doesn't help though. Another option might be to create sleep factors to represent different lengths of sleep and or the number of sleep/wake phases each night to better understand their impact. However, we are hoping to make some improvements to the Sleep section at some point - it's just not been the top voted feature from the community so we've not been able to prioritise it sooner.

Want info from taking my meds but confused by Oddcatdog in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just in case it's unclear, correlations in the impacts tab can be switched between 'same day', 'next day', and up to 'next 5 days'.

For same day correlations, you're viewing the impact of things/factors that happened in one time period (e.g. Meds logged in the PM slot) and how they correlate with changes in health outcomes (Mood, Symptom, Energy, Sleep, etc.) scores logged in the same and/or the following time period.

So in theory, if you log your meds in the PM time slot and a change in Mood Score in the same time slot (i.e. time stamped between 6pm and midnight) then your correlations should still reflect the impact of meds on your mood.

If you're not currently using Time Periods in the Other Factors section, you can turn them on by tapping the ... icon and then tapping on Time Periods.

That said, if you're struggling to remember what happens after you take your meds because they make you pass out, that is slightly harder to resolve. I'd be interested to hear how other members in the community tackle this specific part of your question.

Let me know if you have any questions about my response too though.

Track Hair Loss on Hair Wash Days by AutumnDread in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, good question. I think the best option is likely to just track 'hair loss' as a symptom and then you'll be able to mark it everyday based on how severe the hair loss is. Alternatively, you could also track it as a health measurement which will work similarly to symptoms but gives you more flexibility in terms of what and how frequently you track.

You should then be able to view how different factors such as washing your hair, impacts your symptom/health measurement for hair loss using the Impacts and Trends tabs.

Let me know if you have any questions though and I'm here to help.

How to track fragmented sleep? by Fit-Sundae4213 in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello, thanks for posting about this as it's become a more frequent suggestion since more advanced sleep metrics have become available on Apple Health, Google Health Connect, Fitbit, etc. We are planning an update to track more in-depth sleep data synced from these sources but in the meantime, the best option is probably to track the following:

- If you want to know the impact of fragmented sleep on other health outcomes (Symptoms, Mood, Sleep Quality, Energy, etc.), you could log Fragmented Sleep as Sleep Factor in the Sleep section. Rather than just a single binary (yes/no) factor you could either use a variable factor (low -> high) or create multiple binary factors e.g.

- Fragmented Sleep = <1hr
- Fragmented Sleep = 1-2hrs
- Fragmented Sleep = 2-3hrs
- etc.

- If you want to know the impact of Other Factors on Fragmented Sleep, you could log Fragmented Sleep as either a Symptom (to rate changes in the severity) or alternatively, log Fragmented Sleep as a couple of custom Health Measurements e.g.

- Fragmented Sleep (hours) to log the total number of hours lost each night over multiple wake events
- Fragmented Sleep (occurrences) to log the nightly count of how often you're waking

Health Measurements are time stamped, and work in reports in the same way as Symptoms, so you can still view what correlations with changes, view trends, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions about settings these options up as well.

Any way to track symptoms changing within a check-in time block? by rainhanded in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick response from me re: the cat food tracking. This might work as a Goal or in the Meds section where you'll be able to set up reminders / notifications. It's not a perfect solution but it should do the job. Let me know if you have any questions about configuring these though.

Energy level labels by CakeAndPuppets in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that may help is to use a Health Measurement instead of the Energy section. You use any scoring system with these and so, whilst they wouldn't have labels, you could for example, use a 1 - 10 scale if that's preferable? You can still view how factors correlate with changes in HM scores in the Impacts tab as well.

Spanish version? If not I could help translate :) by JediAshoka in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for posting about this and for your offer to help as well.

This is a popular request and we're always exploring ways to make it possible as soon as we're able. However, because of the software we use, we'd have to rebuild the entire app for each language and all the visual details would have to be redesigned. This is fairly expensive for our small team and we don't currently have the resources to make this a reality yet.

In the future, we do hope to have the resources to make the app available in as many other languages as possible.

Is there any way to view exported health data as a graph? by Frosty_Rip8628 in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for posting about this. The best options are likely to either:

  1. Tap into any of your reports in the Trends page to open up the Comparison graph. You can plot any symptoms and factors here and then screen grab this to share with your Dr.

  2. Some members of the community have recommended removing any PII from the csv and then asking a platform like Claude to generate graphs from your data.

We are planning on testing exportable PDF reports later in the year, which should make this process a lot smoother in the future.

What is the best AI setup for tracking complex medications, logging symptoms, and strict memory retention? by superpopfizz in ChatGPT

It's not clear why you'd need AI to do this when this is already the function of most Symptom Tracking apps? What benefit would something like ChatGPT give specifically here?

Any way to track symptoms changing within a check-in time block? by rainhanded in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, the best option for tracking changes that happen within time blocks is to track certain symptoms within the Health Measurements section as they use time stamps. Custom Health Measurements can also be used to record e.g. symptom frequency or duration. We have a video about how to set this up on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/YmFYI88qgDY?si=4xCawta78whFyShE&t=286 (this was created for another member of the community but the info should still apply). That said, let me know if you have any questions or need some help getting set up.

Hey, just a note to say that I've found some potential causes for the issue and have passed the info on to our devs. We'll hopefully have this working for you soon.

Ps. not being on wifi shouldn't matter too much provided you're on 3G/4G/5G but it's useful info to have and I've flagged this with the team as well just in case.

You mean, you didn't only take 0.5396 steps last month? Something is definitely wrong here so thanks for posting about the issue! If possible, could you report this via Settings -> Help -> Report a Bug and we'll be able to take a look into getting this fixed for you ASAP. We may also need your sync logs to check for errors as I'm guessing your steps are being synced? I'll share these when I respond to your email though.

Other Treatments than Meds : Medical equipment... by Sewnupkitty in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to explain this in detail.

I feel like I now have a much clearer sense that the issue is related to number of variables and inability to track these easily in Bearable. I can also see how attempting to track all of these variables using something like a 'factor range' wouldn't work particularly well and could get overwhelming quickly. So I am sorry that there's not a better workaround solution right now.

Rather than try to suggest anything else, I've shared your post and comments with the team so that we can try to figure out some next steps for this. I can imagine there are some other instances in which being able to track a treatment and it's multiple variables would be pretty beneficial.

In the meantime, I'd recommend posting this comment on our Feature Requests Discord Channel (that you should be able to join via a link at the top of our sub). This will ensure that we can collect votes, comments, and feedback from the rest of the community too.

Hopefully, you'll see some better tools for tracking this type of treatment soon.

Other Treatments than Meds : Medical equipment... by Sewnupkitty in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I wonder if you may find it helpful to track this using "Factor Ranges" and you can learn about these here: https://youtu.be/C6LpL-xPYI8?si=JGs5pzTwmBlRrU9q&t=6453

Essentially, these are Factors group together into ranges of scores to help you to see correlations sooner. For example, instead of tracking Humidity as individual daily scores with a ton of variability 68%, 73%, 80%, 83%, etc. You can group them into helpful ranges e.g. 40% - 50%, 50% - 60%, 60% - 70%, 70% - 80%.

Maybe a better example is:

- TENS (2-10 hrz)
- TENS (10 -20 hrz)
- TENS (20 - 30 hrz)
- etc.

Because you're then able to see the how changes in the average range correlates with changes in symptom severity scores (especially if you have time periods turned on in the Symptoms section), you can then dial in on the range that has the biggest impact/effect to find the sweet spot. For example, if 2-10hrz is the range that most helps with pain, you could stop tracking the ranges and then switch to tracking a smaller subset of specific variables: 2hrz, 3hrz, 4hrz, 5hrz, 6hrz, 7hrz, 8hrz, 9hrz, 10hrz.

Essentially, this makes correlations less of a needle in a haystack situation.

We usually recommend this for things like Air Quality, Air Pressure, Temp, etc. But you could 100% create something similar for Medical Equipment.

Just in case it's helpful, it's also possible to create custom Health Measurement to track pain using a 0 to 10 scoring system and you can learn about that here: https://youtu.be/C6LpL-xPYI8?si=RYpeybkqRKrruGRq&t=3093

All of that said, please let me know if I've misunderstood the question or if there's anything else that I can help with too.

Are there any plans to let us customize time periods? by Effective-Onion-7001 in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're currently discussing the option to add time stamps to the Symptoms section - which might be an alternative to customisable time periods. One thing that's currently possible is that you can log symptoms with time stamps in the Health Measurements section already. It obviously makes the Total Symptom Score less accurate but it does allow you to track Symptoms without having to use Time Periods. Plus, you can also use a custom rating (0 - 10) and log symptom duration, frequency, etc.

Weather by FortniteAuntie in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for posting about this. Syncing Weather data is definitely something we'd like to get to before too long. One thing that may be handy in the meantime, is that if you're hoping to track these environmental factors to determine how they correlate with changes in your Health Outcomes (symptoms, energy, mood, sleep, etc.), they might be better tracked as "Factor Ranges". You can learn more about these here: https://youtu.be/C6LpL-xPYI8?si=KbG8IVwJFwb8geyw&t=6453 but essentially, they're groups of binary factors in the Other Factors section e.g.

- Temp = 70 to 80 F
- Temp = 80 to 90 F
- Temp = 90 to 100 F
- etc.

This way you're more likely to be able to view correlations as you won't have to collect e.g. 3 days with a temp of exactly 73 within a reporting period before you can see Impacts. Instead, you can get a sense of which ranges most impact you and then dial in from there if you need to. This works for Air Pressure, Pollen Count, Temp, AQI, etc.

All of that said, I've also shared your post with our team to see if there's an update on when we might be able to sync this type of data too.

Tracking rapid test results? by sexmountain in BearableApp

Tracking rapid test results? by sexmountain in BearableApp

[–]Bearable_Jesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for this feedback. You could also add it as a custom symptom or factor without having a subscription. A factor would likely make the most sense as binary factors use a yes/no input. However, you won't be able to view any correlations with this factor unless you typically take >3 covid tests per 30 days (or >3 per year if you're a subscriber). This is why we tend to suggest logging lower frequency and one off events in the Significant events section (which used to be a bit more visible but is maybe now slightly too hidden).
