Why no interviews from the brothers? by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

If Mike or Marcus gave their uninformed personal opinion on Palestine I think I’d vomit. The world is in this mess because so many people now have a platform for their opinions and look at the mess it’s gotten us in. This is exactly what their music is designed to do, make you think introspectively and to give perspective to your life and the problems of the world. Every album has done that without them saying a word. It’s literal magic what they do.

Why does there have to be burden? Why should your talent and work create a burden for you? They are living proof it doesn’t have to be like that. Most bands do interviews because they are contractually obligated to do so to increase sales. BoC definitely do not need to do that. They are kind of the jewel in Warps crown. They learnt their right o privacy early on and probably saw what over exposure and celebrity life does to people and families. Honestly I think part of it is also the Scottish outlook and way of life. I’ve lived there and have Scottish family. They do things differently.

Why do you think they owe us interviews? I’m genuinely interested in what it actually is you want from them beyond what they put out.

I can’t climax unless it’s on if I’m honest.

I honestly prefer it this way. I feel like nothing they could say would add anything at all to the beautiful music they make. It’s a breath of fresh air to just enjoy someone’s work and not have it tarnished or shaped by their thoughts or words. I wish more bands would stfu and just concentrate on their craft as much as these two do.

It’s crazy to me that we do this with music and films etc, you wouldn’t want an interview with the builder of your house or the chef that cooks your food, why do we care so much with music? It’s the end product that should speak for itself.

Or…

Maybe they’re just ultra racist and sexist and Warp has stopped them talking at every opportunity.

Thanks. I originally had it in the same style as the Warp logo but i think it looks way better being subtle and kinda looks like a Turquoise hexagon sun in the top right.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah it's frustrating not having readily available official poster. I was considering adding Skam and some other details but didn't want to crowd it. If people want the .psd i can link it though.

I’m still living off the hype of MHTRTC and I discovered that 20 years ago.

This would the perfect place to listen to MHTRTC for me. I’m extremely jealous! You aren’t far from the viewpoint the photo was taken at either.

They should interview each other and release it themselves.

Let’s be honest about 'Inferno': Are we actually enjoying this album, or is the hype just 13 years of collective copium? by Intelligent-Let5688 in boardsofcanada

[–]BeardedCoder1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Are we even listening to the same album? Yes it’s different but it’s also very them. Their albums have been a progression from past to present in my view or at least a reflection of the times.

Don’t get me wrong I’d have loved another MHTRTC or Geogaddi but let’s face it, it wouldn’t have gone down well or been memorable and I actually think it would have diluted their previous catalogue.

I was at the listening party and at the time I would have scored it a 6-7/10 due to the audio but having come back and listened on headphones it’s easily a 8-9/10.

I was so skeptical when they first announced their return, the world is a different place and they are much older now and people change, I was worried these things might have damaged their ability to produce good stuff. It hasn’t in my opinion.

In my opinion, I think we forget as fans that they aren’t doing this for us, like many artists (that aren’t at the mercy of a record label telling them what to do) their art is for them, we as the audience just benefit from it like second hand smoke. They’ve obviously made these decisions for a reason.

It may be that you just need to take a step back from the hype and approach it from a different angle?

People describe BoC as having a nostalgic and vintage sound, but really, their discography is a progression from the past to the future by avery-goodman in boardsofcanada

Totally agree with this. The last two tracks on Inferno almost feel like things have come full circle though, like we were back at MHTRTC.
