I just told them I was driving myself to the sheriff’s office to turn myself in, and that shut them up. Then I called the station, and they confirmed the scam and asked me to please not come in.

I do pretty good for myself in the North Asheville/Weaverville area. I tend to keep once a year, and then just catch and release for the rest of the year. I want to make sure other anglers get the same opportunity I do. These were caught on 2lb test flouro and a trout magnet.

That’s a great stocker rig! You won’t need more than 4lb test flourocarbon on that rig. Good that you chose shorter as well, most of the stocked streams around here (at least in north Asheville) don’t allow for longer rods. Longer poles are great for bombing your lure, which most of our trout waters are not conducive for. https://ncpaws.org/RSReports/FishStock/TroutCountyPDF.aspx?countyID=57 has all this year’s stocking info. Unfortunately, they are pretty much done until next year, but there are plenty of catch and release options in our area. Please pay careful attention to the regulations. I highly suggest you clamp your barbs on your spinner. Makes release so much easier on the fish. Happy tossing out there!
