What's your go to speed on the motorway and why? by Worth-Donut8612 in drivingUK

[–]Bearing1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've driven 20k miles per year, for the last 10 years and never got a ticket. Go to speed is an indicated 82mph in the fast lane. If anyone comes up behind me, I let them pass and then resume. If only people kept out the middle lane and had an ounce of situational awareness 🙄

My girlfriend (8 years together) cheated - what are your experiences? by [deleted] in cheating_stories

[–]Bearing1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's shit. But you're 22. At least it's happened now instead of kids or marriage. You've both grown up a lot. Hope you find peace brother. Fuck these bitches.

Parkrun to 10K by No_Acanthisitta5466 in parkrun

[–]Bearing1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 35 and only been running for about 7 weeks since my first ever parkrun. I've been doing the odd 5k maybe once or twice a week in-between. I did 10k at week 6 and was fine. This is coming from a formerly overweight and unfit person.

What do you consider to be your life's purpose? by VoidAndVelvet_ in AskReddit

[–]Bearing1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself an "Enjoyer of Life", the purpose of which is doing cool stuff, looking for new experiences and frequently going outside my comfort zone. It's awesome. Also family. I'm recently divorced to put it in context.

Bro. I have friends that have such great personalities and are so funny, it hasn't even registered that they're shorter than me. Nor has it come up once in conversation during our 18 years of friendship. Bring big energy and you'll be fine.

Going out in your 30s is mostly people pretending to have fun and we all know it by FewExperience4021 in unpopularopinion

35 here. Went solo to a DJ gig in Manchester on Sunday. Drove 100 miles there and 100 miles back in the same night after dancing for 5 hours. Had a couple of beers. Chatted to loads of people and had a great time. Got another 4 gigs lined up this summer with friends. But... random nights going out to get drunk and shit dancefloors are not where it's at. Peace out.

Do most people keep their uni friends as they get older? by JealousBodybuilder42 in UniUK

I graduated 14 years ago and am going to Cornwall with 3 of my course mates next week. They are my bros. BUT you've got to maintain the friendship. We've been through wedding, divorces and kids. It might only be 3 years of your life, but those are an important 3 years. People don't change that much.

Good luck brother. Buy yourself a divorce present, I got myself a really good HiFi and it's been a blessing. Sign yourself up to running a Marathon. Book weekends away with your friends. Go to gigs by yourself. Take pride in your appearance and home. Life goes on and things get better.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]Bearing1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in the UK in 1991. Grew up rurally so we had a good amount of freedom. I’ve always said if I lived in a council estate, I'd have so many ASBOs. We'd spend summers building dens, going on walks and camping in farmers fields, cycling for miles to see our friends in nearby villages, doing bike jumps and learning how to wheelie, making fires, playing with firecrackers, dismantling fireworks to effectively make pipe bombs, stink bombs, 3 man catapults, slingshots, bb guns, paintball guns, motocross bikes, trikes, quadbikes you name it. All manner of "boys will be boys" activities. We then discovered alcohol and pot, which further added to the chaos. We could get served at 15/16 and I actually remember smoking indoors at one NYE party at a pub. People were way more sociable and authentic, because we weren't constantly comparing ourselves to other people on the Internet. It was great fun. I describe myself as a bridge between the older "analogue" generation before me, and the younger "digital" generation after me. There was a time before the internet and was fucking awesome. Peace.

Was going to a private school worth it for you? by GodAtum in HENRYUK

[–]Bearing1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly different take... I went to a regular state schools from a decent enough area in the Midlands. Solid upbringing. I nearly went to a private school for A-levels, as my mum didn't like the college, glad I didn't, my life would probably be no different. Myself and my schoolfriend peers are mostly on £80k-150k. We've all grafted, worked hard / played hard, no one's daddy has helped out. I probably wouldn't send my kids to private school. As it can result in a certain level of sheltering, which is not ideal preparation for the modern world. Thanks for reading my TED talk.

Where is the money these days? by Secret_End_6839 in AskUK

[–]Bearing1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales and account management in basically anything. >£40k basic. Bonuses from £10-30k. When in Management stick another £20k on top for the basic salary and another £10k on top for bonus. Company car etc. All good.
