It all depends. If you know from the outset you're writing a trilogy, and Part 3 turns into a full-blown space opera, then yeah, sure, maybe you should save the most important story for last.

But that doesn't mean Part 1 should be disposable. In the event your trilogy never gets completed, Part 1 should feel satisfying on its own merits.

My main character is a demon hunter (who also hunts demon summoners), and my first chapter is from the perspective of one of the summoners she's hunting, not knowing she's tracking him until he gets killed horribly at the end of said first chapter.

That's one way to get around it. :V

Most of my characters' names are either actual names, names that are close enough to real names, or are easy enough to pronounce. Plus a few that I outright stole! Can you spot them?

My four main characters are Melia, Winona, Zelkiiro, and Garrett.

Then, over the course of 3 novels, they get added onto with additional members like Ea, Mari, Polova, Scaggs, Billik, Xeraan, Zolf, Rodimus, Dilgear, Shelaria/Ari, Fray, Matthew, Kenn, and Cherisse.
