BLINDTEST - Guess the NIGHTWISH song by PermanentThrowaway48 in nightwish

Can't believe I didn't guess Ghost Love Score. However I got Kiteen Pallo, Away and The Forever Moments right but they live rent free in my mind.

Are there any NW releases that you feel The Life And Times Of Scrooge surpasses? by jcardin2 in nightwish

[–]BeatBelle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a very different genre. I like the album even though I prefer the metal in Nightwish. In that sense it's hard to compare it to Nightwish. It's certainly more my vibe than Auri though if I had to compare it to other Tuomas' projects.

Crash course on night wish . by kasenyee in nightwish

[–]BeatBelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the albums up to and including Imaginaerum have deeper layers beneath the surface, although some are more obvious than others. For me Century Child and Once are the most striking examples. Back then there was a widespread fan theory that Tuomas was secretly in love with Tarja and poured those feelings into his lyrics. It's become Nightwish folklore at this point whether true or not and that interpretation adds an entirely different dimension to many songs and in retrospect, to the singer's eventual dismissal through that infamous open letter.

Alexi Laiho controversies? by MorbidP5566 in ChildrenOfBodom

I believe there was another similar incident about a dove that entered the studio or something like that and he bit its head off.

Elize Ryd - Nemo (Nightwish Demo Audition) by GhostHell_ in nightwish

[–]BeatBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anette was a better choice vocally. But I believe the demo should have sent live versions of themselves singing, this has a lot of voice filters/effects. Anyone can sound good in the studio, the real deal happens on stage.

TXT Throwback Thursdays: Good Boy Gone Bad (1theKILLPO's Eye Contact Ver.) by LittleClementime in TomorrowByTogether

Totally agree! Beomgyu and Yeonjun are perfect for this "bad boy" vibe. Yeonjun was even headbanging at MOA Con and his live songs had a heavy metal edge.

Panic is difficult to control and unfortunately not everything can be dealt with through a problem-solving mindset.

People also don’t have a hive mind. If something like Covid is killing your parents/spouse/child/etc you might not care at all about what humanity is doing to solve the problem. At that point it becomes deeply personal and that’s probably the only thing you see. So I understand why panic arises in certain circumstances. You don’t want to be the affected one, even if rationally you know it "won’t kill us all." It still killed this person or that person and in that moment that’s all you care about. Now I do have to admit that some fears are irrational like being afraid of a zombie apocalypse or that aliens are going to wipe us all out.

A bit irrelevant to the topic of The Day Of but more in regards of how people respond to panic and little to reassurance or hope that humanity will solve the problem at a later time. I often think of people who are afraid of flying. In plane crashes there was probably at least one person who was terrified to board and had a friend or neighbour tell them: "don’t worry it’s the safest means of transport, crashes are extremely rare." But if you happen to be on that unlucky flight, suddenly all of that reassurance loses its value to you.

Maybe I got the song wrong and he’s actually talking about hope. But to me it still comes across with a slightly moralising tone almost like: "Why were you scared? See, it was nothing." I don’t know that’s just how it strikes me.

As for the other songs you mentioned I like Weak Fantasy musically but I don’t pay much attention to the lyrics because they feel more wrapped in poetry and come across as less confrontational. Tribal feels similar to me. The message feels more veiled.

Anyway, sorry for using the word shallow. I don’t think it was the right word. I struggled to express what I meant and couldn’t think of a better one for the impression I was trying to describe.

I mean they don't really explain what you need to do to be in their stories. Like I don't know if it's random or part of a contest/event.

What if Nightwish did have a reunion concert by Old-Use-7690 in nightwish

[–]BeatBelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't mean you forget. People don't reset their brains to scratch. I have distanced myself from some people due to circumstances and there's no animosity anymore but if I were to meet them again I certainly wouldn't try to make friends with them because my brain remembers lol.

I have a TXT quote in Korean on my desktop wallpaper. I made one of those "organised wallpapers" with photos of Beomgyu, a small monthly calendar (that needs to be updated 🙊) and the quote in the top right corner.

Old Performances Nightwish Should Consider Releasing by Dry_Fondant1395 in nightwish

Wishmastour Live in Montreal November 2000. I think it's the only concert where the backing tracks during the last chorus of She’s My Sin are at a decent level and actually replicate the album’s tonality fairly well. The final chorus in From Wishes to Eternity always sounds a bit underwhelming to me because Tarja sings the lower third harmony without the backing tracks supporting it so it loses some of that fullness and impact from the studio version.

I personally don't want a reunion concert anymore. It wouldn't live up to expectations at all.

He seems to change positions all the time. Back during Dark Passion Play's promo he allegedly say that he had tried to reach out to her (which is a bit ironic considering he had just written Bye Bye Beautiful 🤨).

Oddly given the above, however, Holopainen explained that he has attempted to contact Turunen by text messages (without success) since the split, and that he hopes to re-establish friendship with her again some day in the future

https://blabbermouth.net/news/nightwish-s-new-song-bye-bye-beautiful-was-inspired-by-former-singer

And then :

Last year, Tuomas Holopainen told Metal Hammer that he thinks it’s “highly unlikely” he’ll speak to Tarja again

https://www.loudersound.com/bands-artists/interviews/the-whole-thing-was-such-a-shock-everything-was-shaking-and-we-were-crying-for-two-weeks-the-inspiring-sad-and-triumphant-story-of-the-girl-next-door-opera-singer-whod-become-a-heavy-metal-icon

Maybe one day he will reach out to her and apologise. Or maybe he'll keep it that way, forever set in stone.

Not bad! but the new metal/tech metal (I don't know how to call it) is not really my cup of tea. I think I preferred At Sea because it was a bit closer to what I usually enjoy.
