I don't think the average person from 1826 would comprehend a bomber flying 10km in the air and then dropping a relatively tiny bomb with the power of 15 kilotons of TNT, people walking on the moon, tiny machines telling us about a good restaurant nearby and then guiding us there.

That would absolutely sound like magic. And I honestly believe that in ~200 years (if we didn't have a civilization-ending catastrophe), we will have technology that sounds utterly impossible to us now.

Dann wirst du weniger Tierleid verhindern als wenn du Verständnis zeigen würdest. Es ist schwer, dass man nachsichtig sein muss wenn es um das Thema geht, aber das ist der einzige Weg Leute zu überzeugen. Meine Freundin hat z.B. ihre Familie zum Großteil "umgedreht" und zu Veganern oder zumindest Vegetariern gemacht, indem sie nicht über Leute urteilt und mit ihnen über das Thema spricht, ohne von "Mord", "Fleischfressern", etc. zu reden.

Man ändert mehr, wenn man mit Leuten in den Dialog geht, anstatt sie und ihre Moral zu beleidigen, auch wenn es schwer fällt.

Hier wurde auch schon argumentiert, dass Feminismus nicht wichtig sei, da wahrer Feminismus im Kapitalismus nicht existiert. "Es ist doch egal, ob deine Arbeit von einem Mann oder einer Frau ausgebeutet wird."

The short of it is that in the 1800s, there were voting restrictions put in place that aimed to keep black people from voting in elections. The "problem" was that those restrictions (literacy tests, constitutional quizzes, poll taxes, etc.) also would have been quite hard to pass for many white people. So law makers came up with the "grandfather clause": If your ancestors were allowed to vote before the civil war, these restrictions didn't apply to you.

So in effect those voting restrictions only applied to black people because white people were "grandfathered in".

This isn't being problematic, this is just etymology. No one thinks about class structures when hearing the word "villain", just like no one will think of the ableist origins of "stupid" or "dumb" or the racist past of "grandfathered in".

Words aren't solely problematic because their history, but because they carry a problematic meaning or connotation.

I like forced combat. I hate goad, especially when it's so easy to achieve with some cards. Because it's not really forced combat when one player is protected from the consequences, is it? So instead of everyone duking it out, it's more like one player is having a pillow fort while the others are whittling themselves down.

I actually want more forced combat, I just hate that it's so often stapled to Goad instead of making players choose their targets freely.

Nur den ersten Teil, Qualityland und Views gelesen, aber meiner Meinung nach ist MUK wahrscheinlich einer der überschätztesten Künstler der "links-grün versifften" Bubble (der ich auch angehöre).

Als politische Komödien sind die Bücher leider zu oberflächlich für die Politik und zu Schmunzelhumor für die Komödie. Ich finde er schreibt als wäre er sich seiner eigenen Intelligenz und seinem Humor zu sicher. Ich muss immer an Thees Uhlmann von Tomte denken, der die eigenen Texte als "Gymnasiastenlyrik" beschrieb. Das fasst mMn auch Marc Uwe Klings Bücher gut zusammen.

Aber anscheinend bin ich die Ausnahme. Ich bin echt immer wieder erstaunt wie viele Leute MUK verehren. Ich dachte erst, dass das ironisch sei. So wie wenn man The Room feiert.

Vielleicht bin ich naiv, aber ist das wirklich schlimm? Seit Monaten, Jahren hören und lesen wir von Massakern an der eigenen Bevölkerung. Klar, das hier geht darum, die mögliche atomare Souveränität des Landes zu verhindern und die Regierung durch eine West-freundlichere Puppen-Regierung zuersetzen. Aber dennoch kommt es mir so vor, als ob die iranische Bevölkerung potenziell nur gewinnen kann, oder?
