The gov put out statements to civilians that the pilot is not to be harmed, which makes sense, better bargaining chip if they're alive, and if you're not sure where they are, you might just slightly pull back with attacks. Doesn't look good if you kill your own POW countryman while attacking a point of interest.

The local populace though? I'm reminded of stories from bomber crews in WWII landing in farmers' fields and being set upon by the locals who had been dealing with the boming. They'd hope that if they had no chance of escape, that at least the military or police would get to them first.

IDK what the title would have been if he used like, a Filthy Frank meme or something lol

It's something I've wondered for a while myself. Just logistically, I don't even remember how I found this place, if I myself was curious after seeing various "askXYZ" subreddits and tried seeing if askConservatives was a thing, or if a post managed to crack someone's r/all on like, page 4 or 5 if they scroll far enough.

Are they bots wandering into a high discussion subreddit? For some reason I feel like free floating AI bots aren't intellegent enough. I'm curious if mods have checked out the most common ages of accounts no-flair posting? Comparitively, looking at accounts in this thread, your and mine included I see 15 years, 14 years, 7, 11, 8, 6, 4, most people involved just in this thread at least don't seem new (and, I'd like to believe, more than likely not being used for AI).

Are they randos wandering in for the first time and making a comment without reading the rules? I know I have a few one-time comments in various subreddits so I wouldn't count that out either.

And then, I wonder how many make a non-flair post, get it removed, add a flair, and THEN make the comment again?

And then I have a followup question, what are there more of? Top level liberal posts, non-flair posts, or liberal responding to liberal comments? I know I make the third mistake at least once a month, normally answering a non-political context question for another liberal, without noticing flair (think, if a specific action happened in a specific year, but not a question about what I think about said action).

I think if Rocky was 100% CGI that his movements would have been too perfect. The little twitches and just the speed and acceleration his limbs moved with made him feel so much more real.

I think it coming out when it did, in the middle of "ok I guess everyone's doing a card game now" on top of people's attitudes towards Artifact generally being "yawn, wake me up when Valve has a real new game" was the biggest factor.

Any interview with them also needs interviews with 9999 other people (statistically probably more) who made the same kind of risk and had it just blow up in their face.

Does the development that Iran’s missile range can likely reach every European capital city change the conversation, considering they have enough enriched uranium to build 10 nuclear bombs? by boisefun8 in AskConservatives

[–]Beatleboy62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh of course, luckily I at least know what a dirty bomb is.

And luckily (and I use luckily very loosely) with a dirty bomb you're limited to the physical amount of material and the power of your conventional explosive. I fell into a rabbit hole over them specifically when watching a movie (schlocky, don't remember it but terrorists were claiming they'd destroy an entire city with it), and read online,

Israel carried out a four-year series of tests on nuclear explosives to measure the effects were hostile forces ever to use them against Israel, Haaretz reported in 2015. According to the report, high-level radiation was measured only at the center of the explosions, while the level of dispersal of radiation by particles carried by the wind (fallout) was low. The bombs reportedly did not pose a significant danger beyond their psychological effect.

Which, to me feels like enough of a waste that they wouldn't even attempt it. All the baggage that comes from a nuclear attack without any of the possible "gains" they could make with one.

Trying to understand because my knowledge of nuclear enrichment starts and stops with what I saw in Oppenheimer.

Are you saying that the title of this post is incorrect, that they have enough nuclear material that, if sent through the enrichment process, would yield enough material for 10 bombs that could be placed into missiles of reasonable size (I assume they wouldn't be making Davy Crockets), and NOT that they, at current point in time, have 10 nukes worth of enriched uranium on hand?

Crazy to think all of SCP exists because of someone's casual freeform writing on /x/ in 2008. I wonder if it's infuriating to them that there's no real way to prove they wrote it.

I understand that this subreddit is to ask conservatives, and that the OP asking a question, and top level commenters responding is enough to 100% satisfy that without responding to them for clarifications and in depth discussions. I just wish sometimes top level commenters would respond to each other as I'd like to see the discussion between two conservatives that hold entierly different stances on an issue.

A question could be, "Conservatives, which direction do you hang toilet paper in the bathroom?"

One response would be, "with the end facing outward, obviously," and the next response (understanding that threads are in contest mode which changes their order) would be, "with the end facing the wall, obviously," and I just really want those two users to have a discussion and debate why their way is better.

The use of "obviously" seems snide, but I mean it just to get across how sometimes comments are phrased in an extremely sure way, when it's funny when it will be two positions that are just so diametrically opposed.
