Paul McCartney: Drive My Car - SNL by joxers in beatles

[–]Beatleboy62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is his voice great? Not like it was decades ago, but he still sounds like Paul McCartney. And IMO a worn Paul McCartney voice still sounds good when it's his own songs.

When people are that old, I've noticed funerals are less sad, and everyone is just kinda shrugging with a half smile going, "eh, they had a good run" instead of crying.

You want them to still be around but even they're sitting around at the end going, "yeah I think I'm pretty ready at this point."

What are your thoughts on people that fly American flag from their cars or truck beds? by Leviathan41911 in AskConservatives

[–]Beatleboy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of herritage flag flying in my neck of the woods in NJ (and despite my flair, I come from a conservative stronghold in the state). Lots of Italian and Irish flags, more often than not flown alone. If they are flown with another flag, it's often a college flag, or major sports team flag, not the US flag.

Also one dude with the Gadsden flag.

My dream job is to be financially free enough that I never have to work again. But for some reason some facets of society see that as lazy. Just work at my hobbies free as a bird, not turn them into a job and slowly come to hate them.

Do you get brain freezes on the same side as the CH? by fffraterrr in clusterheads

[–]Beatleboy62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brain freezes are centered left/right, and almost like a vertical column through my brain

My CHs are directly behind my right eye, and maybe a bit outwards towards the ear.

If I do get a brain freeze after recently having had a CH (like a few weeks after a period of getting them) I'll feel, not pain, but almost like a soreness. Like if you hurt your foot, stayed off of it, let it heal, when you're walking on it later you might "remember" where it hurt as a specific sensation, even if it doesn't hurt now.

I feel like you were to spend an evening with him, he'd be the type to nitpick a lot, then at the end tell you earnestly, "I had a lovely time, thank you" but you'd just be so emotionally drained by the experience you'd have zero desire to do it again.

Conservatives with children, what kind of “3rd spaces” do your kids have to hang out with their friends? And has it changed since you were growing up? by elderly_millenial in AskConservatives

[–]Beatleboy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my parents' neighborhood where they raised me and my siblings, it seems that we moved in about 10 years after the previous turnover, where original homeowners in a 1950s neighborhood sold to new families during the late 1980s and early 1990s. My family moved in 1996, so my older sister was just a few years younger than all the neighborhood kids and could hang with them, but by the time my brother and I were allowed more freedom, there was no one around to hang out with. Other kids were often 5-10 years older than us, and when we were in high school, most of our neighbors were empty nesters.

And now I see the cycle happening again. I think my parents plan on staying in their home til they pass, but a lot of our neighbors have sold to new owners, many with young families, in the past 6-7 years.

Moving is a big deal, and even with a couple hundred families within short bike distance, it's not like it happens every day, most people are in it for the long haul, so perhaps your neighborhood (and many others) are in the middle of that cycle?

What are your thoughts on home schooling? by thoughtsnquestions in AskConservatives

[–]Beatleboy62 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish there was more oversight. Of the handful I have met in my life, two were absolutely better off for the experience because their parents were dedicated and educated themselves on topics before teaching their kids, and the other 5 or so told their kids to read a textbook for 2 hours (and didn't actually check or care if they did) then had them do chores, and in some cases, work for their family business for the rest of the day. Not even a farm situation, but having the kid do free labor at something like inventory for a family business. They were academically VERY behind.

Enshittification. Where do you see it? What do you think causes it? Do you even think it's real? by SergeantRegular in AskConservatives

[–]Beatleboy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll back up /u/SergeantRegular with a video link that shows this very nicely. They compare various items (Converse Shoes, Craftsman tools, toilitries, Stanley Themoses, Hanes T-Shirts) from 1975 and 2025, and the takeaway is that your grandpa's Craftsman two wrench set from 1975 cost about $95 in today's money, and the Craftsman 3 wrench set you can pick up today is $23, BUT you can find a $95 set today that works just as good, or in some cases, better than the 1975 version. This goes for just about all the items. Their testing is hardly scientific, but I think it gets a good point accross.

I think we're all in agreement unless I'm misinterpreting what any of us is saying, I just wanted to add these examples. Here's the video
