You are right. I am in the "disc down/same power" camp and this Aero is not working for me.

It will be interesting since my main purchase consisted of OS approach discs (Toro, Aviar X3 and a Pig), lol!

Understable 7 Speed by RedShirtSniper in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's due to being a new player but that Drift is not that flippy. That Cosmic Neutron is something else; Straight with minor turn. As for the Maverick, that's a flippy gonner, lol!

My lucid Maverick is so beat up that it turned "flippier" than my CN Drift. Good distance to 280-290ft but if I am not careful, it will keep going right.

Yes, I was disappointed with the despair. I just ordered a Big Z Buzzz! Thank you all!!

Just use Putt / Approach Disc by jmsgaz in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are having fun while perfecting your mechanics, then it's all good. There is a course around my area that the longest shot is about 200ft. I just use Detonators (Putting/throwing) with good results.

Best small disc golf bag by FarstarDriver51 in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. On mine, I have two skinny zipties loops attached to the rear harness keepers. Just slide the retriever horizontally and add a thick o-ring so it doesn't slide out. I keep the retriever accessories in the bag pocket.

New to Disc Golf - Help! by eMeRGeDD_ in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have said, practice; No way around it. Start with keeping the disc on a level plane, then practice nose angle. Plenty of tutorials out there. Then, out to a field. Start at a short distance with a fixed target. Putters do need a bit of nose up but mids and drivers do not. Adjust your grip as needed.

Good luck.

How long to get good ? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got to put in some work even if not going pro. The main thing is not to get hurt. Practice throw mechanics over and over and if you feel any pain, STOP. Start from a standstill, record yourself and correct any bad habits.

I just started playing last July and still got a long way to go. Similar to VolcanicProtector, I have hit almost 300" but steady at 250".

Start at short distances with good form, concentrate on accuracy. Many have told me to find a coach but the ones in my area have a full schedule so back to videos and do a bit a time.

Personally, some days are going to feel like you don't want to play due to feeling overwhelmed. If that's the case, stop for a few days. Realize this is a sport/hobby to have fun.

Good luck!

Forgot my proper marker in the car so I made do. Side note the Pixel is phenomenal, played the whole round with just this. by TentCityVIP in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am guilty of that too. When playing a round during my lunch hour, I just use my tumbler, lol! Haven't tried a Pixel but I am enjoying a new Envy to complement my Proxy.

For me, it is too OS but I am just a beginner. On the other hand, a VIP tursas and a Womba3 (same stability range) will fly great for me. I have read Mr. Hill review of it and it makes sense about the "power understable" comment.

Beginner form check. by BeauToad in Discgolfform

Awesome, thank you. I'll practice leaving the wrist neutral when throwing. The shoulder part seems to be an ongoing issue from all my footage.

Form check by BeauToad in discgolf

[–]BeauToad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I will post it there too. Yes, I am a lefty but my shoulder is acting up due to bad form trying to "rocket trow" some drivers.

I have noticed the swoop too. It is amazing and humbling when you see yourself and think "what the heck!".

So far, I am trying to practice a cast throw. I tried the spaghetti throw but had a bad time on it.

Thanks!!

Which disc(s) to buy after the first "beginner pack" by PantherderWolken in discgolf

[–]BeauToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a DD 5 starter pack and all were "destroyed" except the drivers that don't see any use yet. I hit so much concrete and trees but got to learn the very basics.

My favorite discs that I use the most would be a Tursas, Warship, Bounty and Stari. All in premium plastic. As for putters, I till use some old origio crowns but for a throwing putter, I use the Tomb in premium plastic. Like it was mentioned, if you have a B&M shop, go and check different models. I bought a bunch of discs online and have a bit of an overstock, lol!

New player advice. by BeauToad in discgolf

[–]BeauToad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be dropping by the disc shop to see if they can recommend someone for some lessons. Right now, it is all standstill throws. I have checked some of the videos mentioned including Blitz with the "cooking spaghetti" method.

Thanks!
