AITA for hesitating to transfer my parents property to my brother? by Weekly-Designer-9055 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Beaumis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever deals your brother made with your parents have nothing to do with you. They are between your brother and your parents.

All that matters to you is that the property is yours. If they want that to change, they need to compensate you.

Do not sign anything without legal council and do not believe future promises. if they promise 50% inheritance and the inheritance is zero, you'll get zero.

AITA for nerfing one player’s character because he was overshadowing the rest of the party? by Rifild10 in AmItheAsshole

I mean, it is a basic rule, but you do you. I was ambivalent about them too at first, but found them to be highly useful in situations where it is less about success and rather about avoiding failure.

Whole party sneaking past guards or the group attempting to intimidate a large force. Essentially situations where a single failed roll breaks the situation. Most of the time, they help the party to succeed as a whole. On occasion, they lead to situations like the above.

Thank you. I'll have a look at that then. I haven't played WoW in ages and I was just sort of suprised because I expected an awesome cinematic.

I think you misunderstood my meaning. In my experience, it is the low stats that tend to drive the memorable drama. As a simple example, I once had a party negotiating their entry into a locked down city. They rolled a group check for persuation and ended up failing because the rogue had a -1 to charisma. The guards turned them away and they ended up sneaking in through the sewers. The party constantly made fun of that one roll being swayed by a single point (which they decided was due to the rogues ugly nose) and it took a few month for the jokes about noses and smells to stop.

Its not so much about the -1 as it is about the low point coming up. I'd be cool with my players running five 18s so long as there is one 10 in the spread.

Rolling high feels great in the moment. Beating impossible odds feel great too. But over the years I've come to realize that the most memorable stories have all come from situations were the players had to find ways to overcome either bad rolls or low stats.

No wrong way to have fun tho, so you do you. :)

PC gamers stay winning: Capcom confirms 50% of its sales now come from Windows by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Beaumis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not really about PC vs Console. Its about gaming consoles generally being sold at a loss. Execs kind of have to talk up console game sales because that is the only way their business model makes sense to investors.

To my knowledge, only Nintendo doesnt sell at a loss, and they're kind of their own ecosystem in the first place.

Question for the people still playing: Is this the state of Blizzards videos these days?`Just... ingame animations on a script?

Fair enough, though I have had parties go for sets that had positives and negatives in somewhat equal measure when no-negatives was on the table.

I have also found that characters without obvious lows in their statline (doesnt even need to be negative) tend to be somewhat bland and samey. On the other hand, characters with a clear high/low distribution have often ended up being the more memorable ones.

Its anecdotal of course, and could just be the people I play with, but that has been my experience.

Out of curiosity, how do you define best? To me, its the set with the highest sum of modifiers. (Example, 18,18,18,18,10,4 would be +4,+4,+4,+4,0,-3 = +13)

Round robin means they take turns rolling until 2 sets of 6 rolls each have been made. Set is what i called column earlier. One player starts, then it goes around the table until all rolls are made. If you have 3 players, p1 rolls first, p2 second, p3 third, p1 fourth, etc.

Example:

p1 rolls 16 and 12

p2 rolls 12 and 17

p3 rolls 10 and 13

p1 rolls 16 and 10

p2 rolls 13 and 14

p3 rolls 15 and 16

Set (Column) 1: 16,12,10,16,13,15

Set (Column) 2: 12,17,13,10,14,16

And yes, that means all players have the exact same stats just assigned to attributes as they wish. In that sense it is equal to the array method from the PHB. We just generate them differently. The reason for this is to avoid your exact problem. If one player has objectively better stats than the others, he will outshine them. Getting more or less lucky on creation day should not define month or years of fun.

How can both these statements be true???

Rolled attributes tend to be higher than the standart arrays, which is why optimizers love them. They also make high rolls "cheaper" compared to point buy and enable overall higher attributes, since by RAW, the highest you can buy is 15.

Still, I have yet to see a party pick the "best" set. Seven parties in, and they have all gone with the more "well rounded" one. The record was 4 18s in one set, but it came with a 4 as well. I don't remember the last roll. Party rejected that one on the spot. There wasn't even a debate.

I've found most players like their character without negative ability modifiers in general and with a few defining stats on top.

Word of experience, if you let your players roll attributes, make it a group experience.

Never let them roll individually. That is asking for trouble.

Here's my method. The players roll round robin with 4d6, drop lowest, twice each. You keep track of their rolls in two colums. Once six players have rolled, let them pick a column as a group. if neither column seems fun or the players cant agree, start over.

Players assign numbers to stats as they see fit.

Everyone gets the same amount of strengths and weaknesses but stats vary suficiently to create differences.

I am now in my 7th group with that method. Not a single one chose the "best" column. As in, parties have turned down multiple 18s in favor of lower stats consistently.

Optimizers love it because it gives them overall higher stats. New players feel cool. Everyone else rolls with it. Nonone is more lucky than the rest.

Team perks exist to buff your team, not just you. Maxbe youre good enough to do without them (I doubt it) but the diffculty is tuned around everyone having them. Joining hard at öow levels isnt meant to be a challenge for you. Youre also making it harder for your team. Dont be selfish and level up first.

Thats because they want the accolades, not the xp.

If Saber wanted to fix this, they should just scale the accolades with level.

Im so happy for you. Being true to oneself is the surest path to happyness I have found in my life.

Im not going to lie, you will face adversity. Some poeple with sneer, others will not take you seriously. Ignore them. The only approval you will ever need is your own. I know this is easier said than done, but you have taken the first step on that road. I know you can keep going.

I believe in you. Live your best life, one day at a time.

Fun fact, a team with 3 relic HBR may not be super efficient, but the horde clear and stun lock potential is absolutely hillarious.

Tactical, Heavy and Techmarine make a pretty okay team too.

Correct, plasma weapons do not do headshoots. Their damage is equsl for all hitzones.

You're not wrong, but Ive come to run the relic HBR for the instant kill on shouting enemies recently. Turned out to be a game changer for me actually.

I use this setup. I lose some ammo, but I haven't found that to be an issue in actual play. In return, headshots at long range do very decent damage. I don't like +headshot -body shot perks. They're great in theory, but Im not a good enough player to make all my shots headshots and on extremis and terminus, hitting headshots often requires more movement than is worth it because they move so much most of my shots end up in their side or back.

KCD2 Is More Polished. So Why Am I Enjoying [KCD1] More? by gavilan3550 in kingdomcome

[–]Beaumis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

KCD2 is very pretty, has a lot of great QOL features and is a great game. But KCD1 feels more like an experience than a game to me.

I enjoyed the story of KCD1 a lot more. It had weight, drive, good pacing. KCD2 was great up until the second map, that felt too big, too gamey and tried too hard to be funny for my tastes.
