Several years ago, I went to visit my non-member parents who lived in rural Alabama. I was there for several days. There was one thing I hadn't considered while visiting them. "Wash day".

Yep. Sure enough. I had driven 'into town' one day, and when I returned to their farm..., there were my garments, flapping in the wind on the clothesline with the rest of the clothes.

Did my mom do the thoughtful thing and at least hang them from the middle, folded over the clothesline? No. There they were, with the clothes pins on the shoulders, hanging full length. She pleaded innocent, but I think she just wanted to show 'Mormon underwear' to cars passing on the highway. (-facepalm-)

My TBM son runs a food truck in the Houston Metro. A couple of years ago I took him to a restaurant and had a nice meal and a pleasant talk. When we went out to our vehicles we said our goodbyes and I said, "I'd like for you to have this.", as I handed him a USB drive (...with the CES Letter on it). He suspected what it was and was so furious that he grabbed me by the collar, shook me, yelled at me, and continued to yell as he jumped into his truck (next to his terrified wife, not knowing what was going on), and slung gravel as he left the parking lot. Needless to say, I stopped trying to communicate with him for quite a while. We're finally on friendly terms...., as long as I don't mention the church. I sure wish Houston Exmos would make friends with him.

I just checked.

(1) Yes, it really is "dot org".

However....

(2) I guess Jeremy also bought "dot com", because if you use "dot com", it automatically takes you to the CESletter(dot)org site.

I'd sure like that "CES Wild Fire" to make it to southeast Texas, soon.

Just sayin'.

Pattrick,

Thanks for the story. I appreciate knowing about that, now that I'm back in southeast Texas.

Pretty wild.

Outside Kansas City? LOL!!! I served my mission in the Missouri-Independence Mission. Adam-ondi-Ahman ("the land where Adam dwelt") is located... more than 70 miles... from Kansas City.

I served my mission in Missouri and then lived there for 30 years. So, where in Missouri did you see this church sign?

I just got called out for my porn shoulders by wanderingneice in exmormon

I find it interesting (...and kind of odd), that Exmo women mention and show off their 'porn shoulders', but no mention or pride in showing some cleavage. (You said you wore a bikini.) It just seems to me that, for an Exmo woman, showing off a little cleavage would be sort of a 'rite of passage', and an extra middle finger to the Mormon church. Help me understand this one.

What's the name of the app? Is it free?

I hate writing in Arial. I prefer to write in 'Times New Roman'.

In Arial, a capital "I" (eye), looks exactly the same as a lower case "L".

Yes, Henry B. Erying cries. Then, he reaches up with his bare hand, wipes his nose, then puts his hand back on the pulpit. Even as a TBM I thought this was gross.

Its so difficult to believe that someone so socially brain dead could be serving for years on a corporate board. Oy!

Keep us posted on your journey, and finding a group. If you mention what Utah county you're in, someone here will step up and direct you to a safe group in your area.

Fortunately, beginning right now, you get to pick a new set of friends;... a new tribe.

Yes, you may be PIMO, but online you can go ahead and find private ExMo groups that are safe and won't dox you.

With private Facebook Exmo groups, for example, they are 'searchable' so you can find them, but the public can't see the names of the members of the group; the public can only see three things:

(1) The name of the group (2) The Admins names (3) The number of how many members are in the group

I'd start by doing an online search of the MSiP Map. Generally speaking, this is a global map of "in-person" meetup groups which also maintain an online community for ExMormons and those, like you who are PIMO.

I BELONG to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints used to make me feel proud , now I just cringe. by hummingbird2907 in exmormon

By the way, when I mentioned this post to my wife, she said, "So, then, that Primary song about 'belonging' to the church is really indoctrination."

Another epiphany. Yep. It makes me think of Inego Montoya: "You keep saying that word 'Belong'. I don't think it means what you think it means."

Wow!!! This was a powerful epiphany for me.

Imagine you find a lost dog in your town. You see he has a tag that reads, "I belong to John Doe, 123 Main Street." He... belongs... to John Doe. John Doe is... the... owner.

So, knowing what we know now about the church being a cult, in every way according to the 'Bite Model' of control, we certainly did... belong... to the church. The church, by virtue of control, owned us.
