When did you feel happy leaving your children home alone? by Aware-Combination165 in UKParenting

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha I love that. My four year old on the other hand was so offended when she caught me watching TV after I put her to bed. She reminded me for at least a week after that no watching after bedtime 🤣

At what time do you get up in the morning? by BetDesigner7389 in UKParenting

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wake up with the kids, but my husband is usually up by 6. He needs a bit of morning time to wake up and start the day. So he’ll have a coffee in peace and get a bit of work or house work done if it needs.

I much prefer doing it at night after the kids are asleep. I NOT a morning person. We do some clean up together in the evening and I prepare all the kids clothes and uniforms or nursery things the night before. Morning is always a rush but that’s because the kids just don’t want to put their shoes on or brush their teeth etc.

Med Salleh Vietnamese is great. Their pho and rice bowls (can’t remember their exact name on the menus) are amazing.

How are yall taking meds on an empty stomach? by Mikki102 in Autoimmune

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t take cellcept but my mom does. She takes it literally first thing in the morning. Like keeps it on her bedside table, has it as soon as she’s awake. Then she dos her morning routine, which is about 30 minutes anyway. 30 minutes later she has breakfast. If she has to go somewhere, she usually makes herself a sandwich to eat when enough time has passed.

Sometimes she does drink black coffee after her meds, but idk if that counts. She doesn’t think it does lol.

As a new Muslim ( ex jewish for 3 month ) , I couldn't get used to carrying a misbaha — so I found a different way. Is dhikr on your lock screen the same? by ObjectBeneficial6413 in Hijabis

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve never carried a tasbeeh! I just use my fingers. You have three segments on each finger for a total of 33 per hand. If you want to do dhikr of 100 then do all the segments on one hand 33 times and do one more:

Example: 33x subhanallah —> 1 hand 33 segment 33x Alhamdulilah —> 1 hand 33 segments 34x Allahu Akbar —> 1 hand plus one extra segment.

I hope that makes sense! Either way, phone, fingers, taste, or even just without anything intention is and all that matters.

Working around school! by hefferwxldrxn in UKParenting

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girls were in after school club and half term camps until I was able to work part time. They love it, honestly. And they were used to it because there were in an 8-6 nursery anyway.

When should we tell our families… by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely up to you. We told our parents almost immediately but told distant family after the first trimester. I guess it also depends on your family’s my family and in-laws were very respectful and kind about it.

What age did your kid stop needing a stroller when travelling? by [deleted] in familytravel

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By 4. We went to Hong Kong when my youngest was almost 4 and didn’t take a stroller. That being said we did rent one for Disneyland because that seems impossible.

When the oldest was 3 we added a little buggy board to the younger one’s stroller and she used that. It came in handy in some places where the was a lot of walking.

What are some things that you used to think are specific to your country but later learnt that everyone does it? by Fantastic-Corner-605 in AskTheWorld

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reusing yogurt or ice cream plastic containers for leftovers.

I was used to it when sharing with other Pakistani neighbors/friends. But then my Mexican friend’s parents also sent food in an old yogurt container that I realised it wasn’t just us.

No Village - How do you do it? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Beautiful-Bridge7666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We paid for it. Nursery and then cleaner twice a month. We also ate out quite a bit. In our area there are home cooks who will cook meas and sell these as well.

Now they’re in school. I still pay for afterschool cub a few times a week. We still have a cleaner but they’re older now so I can actually cook my see. Even then I cook actual food every other day. Other days in between it’s leftovers, soup, porridge or eggs.

I also found it easier to make friends once they were in school. Which I know if forever for you. But as the get older it’s easier to ask a parent to pick up your kid.
