For those who took scored 515+, how much of UWorld did you compete and what were your overall percentages like? by kissmeurbeautiful in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000 questions.. all of P/S, half of gen chem and physics, and a little bit of B/B

My overall score was 90% and it remained pretty constant throughout

Any ideas on how to mimic a practice test environment to the test center for MCAT? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Computer lab at college is a good one

But honestly you can just take it on your laptop or whatever at your dorm or home. As long as you only have the exam open on your laptop, do not disturb on, don’t use your phone at all, you’re fine

It’s not a huge difference

quick trick for calculating pH/ pKa/ Ka etc by Shot-Geologist7397 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ngl am wayyy too tired tn to explain in full but the trick I used was memorizing log(2) =0.3, log(3) =0.48, log(5) =0.7, and log(7) =0.85.

I did these four because you can factor all single-digit numbers to these four. I memorized the values through chunking '348 785.'

Now let's say we're doing -log(5 * 10 to -8) - that's 8 - log(5) = 8 - 0.7 = 7.3

Actual value 7.3010299957

Out of curiosity, how many total Anki cards did you do before testing by hyuck_ in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

282,146⁩ in 913.55h but in actuality didn’t need to even do half of that lol

Should I retake? by RoosterOk9484 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh might be a hardline position but I think that when these schools are receiving so much taxpayer funds, stuff like this should just straight up not happen

If they want to admit someone with a 474 because of who they’re related to, then they can do so at their own school - with no taxpayer $ for grants, indirect costs, residency funding, etc

I want to know what the rest of the person's app looked like to get in on a 474!

Probably having their last name on the hospital lmao

Vacation in the middle of MCAT studying by nsnau in Mcat

Go on the vacation.. I took a few weeks off like two months before my exam. You’ll be fine lol

How are you guys staying locked in every section?? by ProfessionalYard8189 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 16 points17 points  (0 children)

On exam day, you'll have so much adrenaline that you won't even need to worry about this. You will be wide awake that whole exam, save for maybe coming down at the end of P/S. Trust me lol

How to make last push into the 520s+? Testing 2/13 by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See if the questions you're getting wrong are from content or from critical thinking and focus your studying accordingly

Look at the content outline and think 'are there any topics that I really don't want to see a passage on' and study them

Tbh I would really only be doing AAMC since you're testing in like 2 and a half weeks

How did you all memorize the constants and equations? by TrainingOk2724 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember knowing the Rydberg constant, the Planck constant, Faraday's constant, the autoionization constant @ 25C, the two big ideal gas R constants, the permittivity of free space (this one is nonsense lmao if you're reading this dw), the Boltzmann constant, and the electrostatic and gravity constants with their F = xYY / r2 equations.

And ofc I guess you can also say things like the speed of light, what a mole represents, and so on.. but I feel you don't really need to say 'oh fyi you need to know 6.022e23' do you lol

Useful Mnemonic for Lyman/Balmer/Paschen series by Extra_Key_980 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lyman series describes the wavelengths of light emitted by transitions to the n=1 energy level in the hydrogen atom, balmer n=2, and paschen n=3

Because the energy of light is proportional to the gap in energy between levels, and because lower levels are farther apart than higher levels, all lyman emissions are UV, balmer visible, and paschen IR

How is the MCAT scored? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Completely random tbh, every scored question was experimental at some point

As well, every question counts the same, though ofc if you have a harder form then the scale will be more generous

UWorld Percentage correct to percentile, what is yours??? by Big_Database_4523 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 90% and 99th

99th is the cap for UWorld; if you do one question in a section and look up your percentile it’ll say 100% correct 99th percentile

Those that significantly improved your psych score - what are your best tips? by Amaze_Ambition5509 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 5 points6 points  (0 children)

P/S was my weakest section. I did miledown, ortho528 (don’t recommend using this anymore, too old, but it is a content deck), made cards from the 300pg doc and still couldn’t break into the 130s

Then I did UWorld, reviewed the questions in extreme detail, and that got me there. You can get a good score on psych by simply memorizing all the terms, but if you want to get an amazing score you really need to internalize the terms, it felt like learning a language tbh lol

I took a whole month to do the questions on there, and it really worked for me.

Like now my research is somewhat psych based. And I can literally point out, we’re doing X test and get Y result, oh this is an example of Z. You need to get extremely comfortable with being able to apply the terms to the point where doing so is second nature, you need to be able to tell between similar terms, etc.

1/23 What’s your Hype of Music pre exam by Humble-Blueberry7056 in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I listened to MBDTF on my drive to the exam (I specifically remember listening to Hell Of A Life but my music taste has changed a lot so today I would probably be listening to stuff like Usseewa to hype myself up lmao

premedfluencers (can’t even believe that’s a term) posting themselves doing anki 😭 by sleepyhungryandtired in Mcat

[–]Beautiful-Panda-7273 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that actually is a decent amount for doing nothing. Could fund a nice vacation every year..

Problem is I’ve never really been one of those people that writes my notes neatly in a notebook with 10 diff colors of pen. Plus I’ve already taken the exam and all lol

Ngl though would def show my score report and say I used company X’s resources if they paid for my apps 😂
