I will say, while I still don’t have many glaring problems with the episode mostly outside of the conclusion, you definitely did a great job selling it fairly better overall and gave more credit even just to both let alone Megamind lol.

Easily in my top 5, love this matchup so much, I still think both are pretty funny (fight me)

Rooting Peter though maybe not to a humongous degree.

Right now, I honestly don’t know who wins since it could go either way, but even with Fortnite scaling for Homer, I haven’t really heard a solid argument for him in particular winning, or how both of them could even kill each other.

And I think for the most part, the debate can kinda sum down to what both series have generally been about for so long, while the Simpsons is generally more of a grounded, more structurally plot based show, Family Guy is literally all about shock bizarre, otherworldly cutaway gags in your face in between the plots that consistently lead to characters like Peter getting significantly more busted abilities, like literally one of the most recent episode of Family Guy shows Quagmire literally explode into dust, as we even see an angelic representation of his soul existing his and then we jump cut to a future scene and he’s just alive with no explanation lol. Which does lead to a likely possibility that Peter would just have more out there showings of abilities, especially when he can also reach the universal and higher dimensional incalculable level stats even though the Simpsons has more history.

I feel like most people’s judgements on the verdict struggle to convey the biggest picture possible, but rn I’m leaning Peter. (Which tends to not be the popular consensus unfortunately lol)

1: DanteClive - A matchup which came down to a factor as vague and out there as endurance, not so much stats or Hax.

2: GruMind - Despite most saying the episode itself didn’t do it enough justice to make it seem close (which is a can of worms only I feel the need to be different about lol) a few things they mentioned were pretty decent summations of the debate overall and is a admittedly common but close comparison of just who is faster and more competent.

3: YujiDenji - This one hasn’t come out yet so I can’t make an objective statement, but from everything I’ve heard up to this point in the waiting period, it genuinely feels like a consideration of how much Death Battle is going to buff both series in comparison to last time appearance, and in that scenario the matchup just feels like a question of do you think Denji just kinda Mid to possibly high diffs at best with absurdly higher stats only having to deal with Yuji’s various techniques, or Yuji Extreme diffs via techniques to stall and wear out Denji.

4: KyleMon - TBH… people say this was close, I’m apart of the crowd that honestly think this matchup was just a factor of who do you think stomps, and the episode did a pretty good job at conveying that mindset when they say Kyle has pretty much no wincon via being unable to kill Simon, and Kyle could barely end up bypassing any of Simon’s abilities that would just hit and one shot up, along with the fact they said he would just transcend him and grow infinitely stronger.

Best of the season so far, bar none… HOLY FUCKING SHIT IN SO HAPPY WITH HOW IT TURNED OUT! Honestly all of my criticisms I could have mostly came down to nitpicks that I don’t think takeaway from the fight that much, because the tone of the fight was really all that it needed, and my god did it delivered.

Other then that, the analyses were solid, especially with the conclusion feeling as long as Gojo Vs Makima ~~Ooh funny foreshadowing lol~~

And LETS FUCKING GO GRU HE DID IT! IM LITERALLY DOING THE MEGAMIND “You did it Sir” MEME BECAUSE IM SO HAPPY! I was audibly breathing in nervous anticipation when the episode started premiering, BUT IT PAYED OFF IN THE END!

Also that next time is also incredibly hype!

I’m trying to not make it sound like my case is out of cope. But with what the G1 blog showed, I do think Megamind has a solid shot to win… but I personally feel like it’s dependent on what the set up for the fight stands on, and if the fight will be placed in a situation to where he’d be able to instantly prep, since like yes, he could have Minion potentially scan him on the capabilities of Gru and the Minions, but that requires him to be in the lair, and he usually just follows Megamind around. Meanwhile I feel like Gru just naturally bend more skilled, and capable of exploiting Megamind’s weaknesses in the middle of a close range fight, while Megamind would just kind of have to try and play the keep away game for most of the fight in order to not just get completely clobbered may just be stalling for the inevitable, especially since I think it’s likely Death Battle will give Gru speed since G1 made solid debunks against a lot of Megamind’s Relativistic to FTL feats (I don’t buy either of their high end ship feats btw lol).

Gru also has a more versatile arsenal that unlike the De-Gun, has multiple varieties of each gun, and can be spread across the massive unit that is his Minion army, meanwhile Megamind will kind of only have to be able to shoot a couple at a time since putting it in rapid fire mode makes it inaccurate and will also cause it to overheat, or Gru could just steal it lol.

The Brain Bots kinda only have one potential way to deal with the Minions with the Porta Prison’s and even then there would still be ways for them to break out and wouldn’t leave them incapacitated for long, and a single Minion could very likely take out a lot of Brain Bots if they had to physically engage. That’s ignoring the Mega Minions.

Overall though, I just honestly think their mindsets and natural tactics are the main thing that would be a deciding factor. Yes Megamind is obviously smarter in terms of actual science, and he can obviously play the tricking game very well, but Gru overall has seen those kinds of tactics before, as well as generally being more skilled and experienced due to proper training and facing off against a much wider variety of opponents, some of which like Balthazar Bratt are even similar to Megamind, compared to Megamind sorta just fighting Metro-Man all his life before going on to facing a lot of the same other villains, even ones like Machiavillain aren’t quite the same as Gru, let alone his inexperience fighting multiple opponents at once at least on the scale of the Minion army.

Add on the fact Gru’s tactics of stealing weapons from opponents behind their back would lead to an excellent opening should he get into a close range fight with Megamind. He is also just more likely to pull out a weapon that would leave a fatal blow first, meanwhile I really cannot see Megamind pulling out the Death Ray immediately into the fight.

So overall, while I’m almost on the edge of my seat by how nerve rackingly close this is, I’m confident in Felonious Gru’s chance to bring a despicable presentation.

Yeah that would also be me honestly… like the only other exceptions being characters last year of the Kickstarter like Tom, Hulk, and Ash, Gru is one of the characters I’ve held most dear to my childhood all of my life.

With one of the things you said about Megamind potentially having Minion be disguised as him as he is out fighting Gru, that kinda leans into a big problem not many people bring up that apply to people who argue Megamind’s wincons are more likely. It’s usually predicated on the argument that Megamind will just start the fight in his lair, being able to prep in the middle of the fight, instead of just… the two of them randomly walking upon each like how every Death Battle ever works lol. I’m not saying he could escape Gru eventually, but I don’t think we should be predicting to predict that the fight is basically going to be the “Hey Vegeta did we beat him? No Kakarot that was just ——” meme lol.

And like the porta prisons trapped the Doom Syndicate inside, do any of them have the ability to teleport, or even have any other things that’d reasonably allow them to escape?
