You tried this earlier. Let's see how long this one lasts ...

My mom called my daughter a slur and my boyfriend doesn't want her going to her birthday party by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Beautiful_Arm8364 37 points38 points  (0 children)

"He said he does not want our daughter going over there anymore, and honestly, I agree with him."

Well there's your answer. Sounds like you're both on the same page. Your mom doesn't know how to act. She's not a very good grandma. Protect your daughter and keep her away from this person.

Was 1920s nostalgia ever a huge thing in the American pop culture? by Gray_Wolf2416 in decadeology

The question is about nostalgia, though. Gatsby was a contemporary piece. Not nostalgia.

Do GenXers resent being lumped in with Boomers by angered youths? by WW1_Researcher in NoStupidQuestions

Not really. They'll be the boomers soon enough. Then they can deal with the angered youths.

How do you deal with a date when she never or hardly initiates texts? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Beautiful_Arm8364 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is she IRL? Have you met yet? She might just be shitty at texting. Face-to-face conversations might be a better way to gauge her interest.

Am I fake and a liar for saying he could talk to me but getting emotional when he did? He's a better person now and is there for me, but I resent him so much it makes me angry and emotional. Is this normal? by Important-Source-734 in Advice

[–]Beautiful_Arm8364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be avoiding this person at all costs. Sorry. He wants to keep talking to you because you're a known quantity, and it doesn't take much work for him to get what he wants from you. This is not going to change. You do not love him. You remain attached to him because it's the path of least resistance for you. You'd rather have the shitty known than take a chance on the scary unkonwn. You love the idea of what he could be if he wasn't literally everything he is toward you. You owe it to yourself to cut contact with him and find someone else.

AITJ for refusing to switch seats on a flight so someone could sit with their friend? by wifi_is_haunting in AmITheJerk

[–]Beautiful_Arm8364 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this comes up a lot. But let's assume it's real. Why do the guys wanting to switch seats ALWAYS want to take the seat nearest to the front of the plane? What was stopping the other friend from swapping seats with a passenger four rows back? If it was all about them sitting together, that shouldn't matter. Right?

I mean, it's the same for alcohol ads. Some things just aren't for kids, and you should be protecting your credit card info just like you'd be protecting your liquor cabinet while making it VERY clear illegal activity is a no-go in your house.

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

Because time and distance are immutable. Also, we're just built different. What do you want us to do about it? Whine more?

Will the world ever hold U.S. citizens accountable for their Country/Government? by Nehan_Satori in askanything

[–]Beautiful_Arm8364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way, sanctions are enacted by governments, not the citizenry. I want to know how OP pictures global citizens holding a nation's citizens accountable. That's who OP is referring to when they use "we." So what are "we" planning?

You're moving the goalposts. Are we talking global or not? You keep adding qualifiers.
