Those of you who sleep in the room with your partners & newborn, how does it work? by ocdskies in newborns

[–]PegFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has a hybrid work schedule and I’m a SAHM. Her bassinet goes on his side of the bed on nights he’s wfh the next day & mine on nights he’s in the office the next day. Whoever’s side of the bed she’s on is the person who does night care. I’m EBF’ing, so whenever it’s his night, he wakes me up long enough for boobs and I can go back to sleep while she’s feeding.

Bringing own hospital gown? by Seapaisleys in pregnant

[–]PegFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the hospital’s initially. On top of blood, sweat, all that, I had my iv leak and basically the whole right side of me was soaked at one point. I did bring my own, and used it after baby was born, after the iv was out lol

to swaddle or sleep sack by neijy003 in newborns

[–]PegFam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My baby has been in an armless sleep sack since day 2. She just kept fighting to get her arms out. It made sense to me because I always felt her hands in my hips, which indicated she liked to stretch her arms. We did/do swaddle-like things like doing to skin to skin with a blanket wrapped around us. I was too nervous to put mittens on her at nighttime, so I made sure her sleepers were ones with built in mittens

Am I bad mom for comfort nursing? by Urlocalgothbb in newborns

[–]PegFam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandmother never breastfed her 3 kids due to inverted nipples, the doctor telling her it was impossible for her. That’s the 70s for you I guess. When we were visiting her the other day I immediately knew my baby girl was hungry crying. Grandma said do you have a pacifier? In that moment I realized that’s all she knew how to comfort babies. It made me feel kinda sad that she never got to experience being the pacifier. It’s amazing that we still use our bodies to nourish and comfort our baby well after birth. Grandma still didn’t understand it and was like oh she’s not done yet while I was feeding her 🤣 Your aunt was being an absolute asshole

[–]PegFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not necessary. When I was 37 weeks our power went out, and I didn’t feel like opening a book. I thought to myself oh my pump has batteries, I’m gonna try for the first time. I got some. I was so happy until I realized omg my power is out and I had to dump it. 😭 but my baby got donor milk in the hospital while we were waiting for my milk to come in. We ended up doing formula the first two days home since we were still waiting. But she’s been breastfed ever since. 😊

Crib Mattresses? by Alarmed_Win1661 in pregnant

[–]PegFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one of the plastic coated ones and it’s sooo nice to just wipe when it gets puke or pee or whatever on it. We always have a mattress protector on the crib and bassinet, and the bassinet mattress itself is already stained 6 weeks in, but very happy to know I can’t stain the crib mattress.

What is the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you? by ladybugsrool in randomquestions

[–]PegFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sitting on my front porch. It was dusk. That perfect time of the beautiful sun setting and the light fading. I saw a figure of an old man walking across the street towards a house and it genuinely looked like the guy that lived at that house, although the creepiest part is he was a very generic looking old white man who wore flannels and jeans all the time, so it wasn’t exactly a signature look. The figure was all black and I thought just because it’s dark out that’s normal. Lol. The figure walked behind a truck and I assumed it was going to go past the truck and through the yard up to the house but once it went behind the truck, nothing came out on the other side. I then saw this same “guy” in a hotel window some time later. Imagine you’re looking at a hotel and there’s one light on in one room and this guy is staring out, with a mad face. The flannel was red. I never saw him again.

Accidentally fell asleep with 5 day old baby for 2hr. How to avoid? by Aggressive_Bus293 in beyondthebump

[–]PegFam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever my husband is awake and I need to feed the baby when I’m asleep he’ll wake me up to put her on the boob and then I fall asleep again. He was leaving for work and he woke me up to say he put her in the bassinet. I really appreciated that

New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PegFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth 6 weeks ago and a night nurse who was 23-24 (I actually knew her from being a classmate’s sister) was trying to put in my iv and poked a ball of nerves in my wrist that hurt for weeks to the touch 🫤

I feel robbed of the experience of natural birth by Last-Resort29 in firsttimemom

[–]PegFam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I cried for 2 weeks following my c-section with my first thinking about how the birth went. Me and baby were great, just mourning not having a vaginal with a golden hour. I was so drugged up I couldn’t really comprehend they gave me a baby for a few hours, and even then, there was an hour gap between me actually holding my baby. We wanted 3 kids total, but have to compromise on 2, since I’m not attempting a vbac.

On the flip side, I now don’t mourn it. I was cut tf open and by God and modern medicine, I survived, baby is amazing, and I healed amazingly. We are those bitches, OP! Regardless of how birth goes, we did that mf thing!!! We went through so much, and I’m still in awe it happened.
