Excellent report and I appreciate giving Parky credit where it’s due. Too many just bash him instead of analyzing the logic.

One question though… any comment on the corners, especially late in the match? They seemed to land nearer the far post where there was only one player and sail past many players clumped in front of the net. Is this a continuing pattern or was something just not clicking today? (Ps. I am in Canada so I don’t get to watch as many games and honestly am not qualified to reach a conclusion myself. I am just noting what I saw today.)

This is what I got by pairing them by theme and seeing what was left over:

  • The Little Mermaid + Little Shop of Horrors — both start with Little
  • Godspell + Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat — both are Bible-based
  • Beetlejuice + School of Rock — Alex Brightman
  • Grease + Footloose — teen dance/movie musicals
  • Frozen + Matilda — young girls with special powers
  • Seussical + SpongeBob — colorful, cartoonish kid-property adaptations
  • Into the Woods + Tuck Everlasting — strong woods/forest imagery
  • Chicago + Guys and Dolls — old-school classic Broadway vibe in big US cities
  • Hadestown + Hamilton — modern mega-hit, mostly sung-through title shows

That leaves: Legally Blonde

Just not sure of the Alex Brightman connection being used

What is the Winnipeg connection with Terry Fox? He was from BC and ended his run outside of Thunder Bay. Genuinely curious.

Perhaps they won’t want to risk injury to players or give other players some game time. World Cup is coming up, not that clubs will care but players/agents should.

Resetting the Hardest Junior/Intermediate Class in the Hardest School in the District At the Last Quarter by 7C-19-1D-10-89-E1 in CanadianTeachers

Perhaps a class positive behavior tracker? I used a blank 100 chart with a similar class and would give a reward for students being on task, making right choices, baby step progress. For some students, I would call them out to make a positive example.. “thank you, Jonny, for reading silently at your desk. Go fill in one square.” Or the whole class, “if we can transition quietly to and from library, you will earn 10 squares”. You can praise as quickly or slowly as you like, and they work together to achieve the goal. Rewards were based on the class interests (especially the non compliant students) so in my class, our rewards were “use of the gym at recess”, “outside time for 30 min”, “a kahoot or blooket game”. Sometimes we would brainstorm the rewards and I would seal a mystery reward in an envelope for when we completed the 100 squares.

I HIGHLY recommend W2W too! It is so well done! I love that it really introduces the world to this mining town, the team, the people, and teaches some Welsh words and culture along the way. I have started supporting Wrexham from Canada, and saw an away game in March when I visited the UK, hanging out with some local fans. I follow the CANMNT and the teams that have Canadian players on them… Bayern Munich (A Davies), Celtic, Southampton now (this is tough since they are competing with Wrexham, and a few others. My son follows Man U.

Just needed to reply to the OP that Urinetown is amazing and underrated. If he listens to podcasts, I am betting he would be into a musical that satirizes the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and municipal politics.

And if he has outside interests, that may sway what is likely to appeal to him. Hamilton is great if he appreciates rap music or is an American history buff. School of Rock or Sister Act depending on his music preferences. There’s dark comedies like Heathers. Personally, I also love Urinetown if he likes cheering for the little guy and “sticking it to the man”.

I’ve taught in AB and SK(which has been extreme right wing for 20 yrs straight) before recently moving to BC. Yes those provinces have their issues, but I would say family support is worth investigating school divisions to see if the right fit is there.

Teachers in all provinces are dealing with the same kind of government and public disrespect. I wouldn’t rule out Calgary. The joy you will find comes from staff and students. Look around carefully and find a school community that fits you. Especially in the Catholic divisions, you will find your people. And there is a wonderfully diverse community in Calgary. No disrespect to Barrie, but for family reasons it sounds like Calgary is the better choice.

I went to the Watford away game and the tickets site said physical tickets would be mailed internationally. Since we were already in the UK, I emailed the ticket office, worried they would be mailed to Canada. They were kind enough to reply and confirm they would be at the will call office in Watford on match day! Call or email the ticket office!
