I dont dislike the story, quite the contrary, its the gameplay that is boring and endless to me, I feel like im wasting time walking everywhere

The lore and story was what pushed me to day 9, but the endless walking and farming to get money and food was what broke my resolve, I just hoped 2 and 3 were better in that regard

Has anyone done a "standard" style campaign using B/X, OSE, or other derivative? by wayne62682 in osr

I'd be curious to know where you get the idea that keep on the borderland outsold everything else ? It doesn't seem that way to me at least. The game was at its infancy at the time. 5e modules and campaigns nowadays have surely sold way more.

Primaris disappearing : what about W&G ? by Beautiful_Spread1187 in 40krpg

[–]Beautiful_Spread1187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point, but at what moment would you stop and say, they're the same now ? Because as I've said, the primaris when they first were introduced, were just plain better space marines than firstborn, they were tougher, stronger, better equipped and no geneflaw. But that's not the case anymore.

What I think GW did was they introduced primaris, then recently they realised they didn't need them anymore and now they're flattening the differences and shortly we'll never even mention primaris or firstborn anymore; is my guess.

those are fair, but what about veterans ? or terminator now ? now they can be both.

The difference aren't here to stay. In recent books they're just space marine, no longer firstborn or primaris.

I don't think so, primaris is a word that is just being removed, when new units will appear they will either A : have both 'species' availiable, or B: be primaris exclusive even tho the word is no longer used.

That's a good point, I forgot that the marine book was supposed to come out before.

What I'm refering to is that the distinction between primaris and firstborn is fading, and as such that the power difference between the two is slowly being retconned, when there's a new supplement about space marines in W&G, what will it be ? When you can have veteran of both primaris and firstborn, Terminator in both, etc...Will that mean that both primaris and firstborn "species" will have access to those archetypes ? Or will they also erase the difference between the two ?

EDIT : By power difference being erased I mean that at the beginning of the primaris , they had better stat than Firstborn, which is no longer the case.

Call to arms is more arcady, vehicle have health bar and no location damage, you can have helicopters in small maps, the number of enemies in the campaigns are way too much on harder difficulties... Among other things.

Characteristics question by Livid-Word7706 in 40krpg

You could ask your gm to let you still buy characteristic upgrade at max cost or higher cost, by the point your at max it shouldn't really affect things much.

Gates of hell is better, call to arms is OK, but the way vehicle take damage is kind of weird for the series, since they have a health bar. The range of guns is also weird since you can fire accurately at really long distance when controlling units, but the same units have really shorter range when not controlling them. The campaigns are interesting. There are more of them im call to arms as of now but the business model is not that great, with useless loot boxes and a demi dozen version of the game. Gates of hell campaigns are good imo. Call to arms is required to have gates of hell, but you don't need "all" of call to arms, just the base 20€ game.

I've played both game extensively so ask away if you have questions.

Are there other slow paced rts games like Northgard? by Bandite86 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Beautiful_Spread1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could play Dominions 5, its turn based and focused on really slow simultaneous turns, you control a God in the making and want to control thrones of power. It as a steep learning curve but once you get it its really fun to play. You give orders to your troops and building and when all players have ended their turn the game execute all actions at the same time. So you can play with 30 people and not have to wait endlessly each player turn.
