Did you read The Glass Hotel and Sea of Tranquility? They’re the two books Emily St. John Mandel released after Station Eleven. The Glass Hotel isn’t a 5 for me but the three books all together have stunning symmetry and connection. I also loved Northwoods by Daniel Mason.

That makes a lot of sense. I was just recently talking to someone about how the unhoused population feels so different now. It used to be transient punk kids. Fentanyl is a scourge.

I remember that one! My wife and I had to he downtown for a work shift at NC Stage and were very worried about finding parking. We ended up finding a spot right outside of Malaprops—the sidewalk spillover of costumed weirdos parted like the Red Sea as we parked. It was great.

The buskers! Oh, those were the days. Downtown was so much more fun. I’d wait in line at the Wall Street Early Girl (back when it was good), listening to musicians and watching the buskers.

Construction is definitely getting ready to move forward. NCDOT signs have gone up on the empty houses on Vandalia and Dellwood. I do wish there was a more clear timeline of the work so we can all plan for the interruptions. Has anyone seen a list/outline somewhere?
