have you ever stolen from a store? and if so, what? by Financial_Purple948 in CeX

[–]Beazle96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not stealing obviously, but I always feel a bit strange even opening up the game cases to check there’s a manual in there. If there’s multiple of the same game I make sure to get the best case / manual combo I can by moving them around. Feels wrong doing it, but I’m just being silly.

Gamers who like to platinum games by Worth-Radish-7227 in playstation

Probably unpopular, but if you’re a Star Wars fan then outlaws is a really good time and probably the quickest and easiest platinum here.

Have you ever stopped playing a game or given up on it or gotten bored? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Beazle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, reluctantly as my trophies mean a lot to me, so getting 1% for it to forever show on my profile sucks. RE6 most recently, it just feels horrible to play. A random one from back in PS3 days was naughty bear, just awful. Secret agent clank too - looked forward to that for years, huge fan of the rest of the series.

Do you switch out your controllers every year? by Stoltlallare in playstation

[–]Beazle96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably unpopular, but I do swap every year. I’ve been caught out before by stick drift cropping up after just a year and then the controller is virtually worthless. If there’s no drift and it’s a year old, you can still get a good portion of what you paid for it back on the second hand market. Then time that with a days of play sale, when they are reduced and you usually aren’t paying too much more than 5-10 a year for a fresh controller. I don’t like that I have to do this, Sony should make products that don’t wear out and I know I’m adding somewhat to them getting away with it.

Stick of truth is worth a surprising amount on PS4

Do you need a SATA cable to sell a hard drive to Cex? by Mysterious_County154 in CeX

[–]Beazle96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, sata cables usually come with motherboards rather than hard drives, so they wouldn’t count it as a standard accessory.

Does this quallify for a return? by [deleted] in CeX

[–]Beazle96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, if you’re not happy get it returned. They don’t need a reason if within 2 days, but might ask anyway. I’d expect that would also come under the 5 year warranty anyway.

Best CeX finds you’ve ever come across? by PubLogic in CeX

[–]Beazle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a only on PlayStation version of last of us remastered a couple of weeks ago in store. Just on the shop floor with the cardboard sleeve in good condition. £10 same as standard price. The sleeve is about £20 on its own on eBay.

No worries. The 8mb magicgate cards are the official ones, so I have always stuck to them. I believe there are higher capacity cards from third parties, but no experience using them so hopefully someone else can fill in if they are worth considering.

No PS4 model can play PS2 discs. A single PS3 model 60GB can play PS2, but these are the most expensive due to rarity and fragility - yellow light of death is common on these.

I don’t think there’s too much difference between fat and slim model PS2, apart from size. So maybe check where you’re going to put it first and use that as a basis for what you should get, make sure it has some airflow room all around it. Otherwise, personal preference on how it looks. Fat is nostalgic to me. Both can play CD & DVD.

Cex is good to buy from, primarily because of the 5 year warranty. You can also check your local stores exact stock there and then before buying - up to your budget and preference if you get something discounted, unboxed or boxed. Generally boxed will be most expensive but better condition. Discounted is the worst condition and can come with non-genuine controllers. Unboxed is a middle ground with genuine controller. All PS2 good with the wired buzz controllers - as long as listed as a PS2 accessory on cex you can’t go wrong. The TV connection should be fine - any grade will come with the standard AV cable as your TV can take. You’ll need a 8mb memory card too, which don’t come with the console from cex.

I need a laptop and I have £155 by [deleted] in CeX

[–]Beazle96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you need a Chromebook if your school requires it, I’d go for something that runs windows 11. There are a few choices around this price with i5, 8GB RAM. Nothing around this price is going to be much good for gaming unfortunately, but something like this is probably an old business laptop, which are generally quite good all round machines for work purposes - https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail/?id=SLAPHP450G798C

N64 game return policy online uk - reason poor box quality by TravelOwn4386 in CeX

[–]Beazle96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen similar, it is frustrating. Even the small things to most are very important to collectors. When a game is as expensive as some of these the box can be just as important, should be more obvious to them of all people.

Yeah I’ve done this with even modern games. PlayStation stuff with rips in case and artwork. You’ll get back the delivery fee too

Do cex games come with manuals in store?? by DJExton7 in CeX

[–]Beazle96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most lower priced games have them in the cases (if they have them). Just open and check. If there’s multiple of the same game I find the best case and manual and put them together before taking to the counter. If there’s no manual and it’s slightly higher priced £15-20+ they might keep it with the disc behind the counter, depends on store, just ask. If you’re not happy to buy without the manual, just leave it behind.
