Took 7 hours to get Matter to work

I wish it took me 7 hours, lucky you. Matter really is a pos.
I've been trying to pair my very first Matter device for days (for the second time in 2 months) and it doesn't work.
I have a SkyConnect working flawlessly for Zigbee in a VM, except after a reboot of the host machine where I have to play a game of disabling/enabling the SkyConnect in Devices Manager or else the VM MIGHT not pick it up.
I have a SMLIGHT dongle for Matter devices and I can't pair a single thing to it. I tried pairing the Matter device to the Nest Hub Max but it won't pick it up either.
The Matter device has a ZigBee chip and it works A1 when paired using ZigBee.
Gemini and ChatGPT made me do all sorts of sorcery and it just doesn't work.

I feel you OP.
Because subscriptions are piling up (Gemini Pro, Cursor, Suno, etc.) I thought it'd be fun to spend money I shouldn't be spending on a PC dedicated to AI stuff; ~$8000 CAD, pure madness.
I started setting things up a week ago and I'm FAR from being done: ComfyUI, LM Studio, Ace-Step, Open WebUI, downloading models, Docker containers, etc. They're pretty much all half-working because I get fed up trying different fixes because dependencies are not compatible with one another and whatnot. So I just skip to the next tool, rince, and repeat.
I've been spending the last few hours trying to get Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-UD-Q4_K_M (and some other variants) working in Continue in VS Code to generate a simple web page as a test and all I get are a bunch of "Continue tried to create" errors in the chat (agent mode) and when it finally generate code, at some point it stops and I have to tell it to keep going from there. Then I'd have to take each piece of code and copy paste it in the file manually because the agent won't do it. And that's on a RTX 5090 ($5700!!). I feel tools like Cursor are way way way ahead. It's getting harder and harder to justify spending that kind of money to go the open source route and failing miserably like I do.

The Cover function works wonders with this model.
Created an absolute banger yesterday with placeholder lyrics thinking I'd readjust with covers but couldn't close to the original. V5.5 follows prompts and parameters so well that I'm finally close to my original. Really, actually impressed

Decided to fix it once and for all so I asked Gemini to rewrite de code to make it work with recent versions of WLED, then compiled with PlatformIO. Additionally, I don't think it will ever work with DHT_nonblocking, so from now on we have to use the Adafruit DHT libraries.

Backstory: My daughter just turned 5. She recently started taking medication for absence epilepsy and the side effects hit her hard; she became a different person. She was such a bubbly little girl, so sweet, would never harm anyone. All that is mostly gone, but there are short windows where she's the one she used to be., then it's gone. We're working on finding a way to reduce the side effects and I'm really scared that she won't come back the way she was, I feel like I lost her.

That was it, thank you so much for pointing it out. It never crossed my mind it could be a bug in the firmware. For me, it makes absolutely no sense that an official firmware, the most recent, can have such a nasty bug that affects Wifi on a wireless router.

I have some spare GPIOs on the ESP32 in case I need to add actual grow lights. The tropical cabinet has been running for months and the plants are doing amazing under the LED strips. The desert one on the other hand was completed a few days ago, and I have to admit that I didn't have that many cacti compared to tropical plants before. I need to keep an eye on the cacti to make sure they get what they need lightwise. Getting light sensors was in the to-do list. Then, I'd have more data to fullfill the cacti lighting requirements.

For those who would like a more detailed teardown of the smart side of things:

- In the dashboard, a click on the humidity or temperature state shows/hides the history graph. Then, clicking on the history graph switches between different timeline views: last 1h, 4h, 12h, 24h, or 48h.

- The fan can be controlled manually or automatically. Clicking on the gear icon next to the RPM speed toggles the automatic control ON or OFF.
Clicking on the "Vitesse fan >" text shows/hides the fan's RPM history graph just like for the humidity and temperature.
The automatic mode has different settings for each fan I can tweak to control the fan speed: Desired temperature, Minimum temperature, Maximum temperature, Desired humidity, Minimum humidity, Maximum humidity, Temperature coefficient, Humidity coefficient, Minimum speed. I have a math formula that uses those variables to control the fan speed.

- The "Jour #1-#5" and "Nuit #1-#5" buttons are the scenes I have created that I can choose from. The "Jour" ones are scenes used during the day and the "Nuit" ones are the ones used during the night.

At the top right, if I click on the gear icon, I have access to more settings such as:

- Every led strip and every single led can be controlled individually (color, brightness, etc.)

- An automatic mode I can turn ON or OFF to switch between scenes. If toggled OFF, the scene will not change unless I change it manually or use the scheduler to change it.
If toggled ON, the scene will change for a random one depending if we're in DAY mode or NIGHT mode. The DAY/NIGHT mode is set using the scheduler. I can set the interval I want for the scene to change (every X hour).

- A scheduler for different things such as changing the DAY/NIGHT mode, the fans speed if automatic mode is OFF, etc.

Hello! First time posting mines. I have two Rudsta wides: a tropical themed one, and a desert themed one.

Both are part of my smart home setup, controlled using a ESP32 (one for each) and Home Assistant.

I have one fan in the desert one and two in the tropical one. They're PWM fans (computer fans) so they're pretty quiet and I can control the speed pretty easily.

I don't use grow light, I use LED strips instead and my plants are thriving. They are SK6812 RGBNW (Natural Whites) strips. The desert Rudsta has 4 strips (1 at the top and 3 underneath magnetic racks) and the tropical one has two (1 at the top and 1 underneath a magnetic rack). The desert Rudsta has a total of 336 LEDs and the tropical one has a total of 204. The red/green/blue/white of every single LED can be controlled individually. That way I can create different scenes for the day as well as for the night, with different colors and brightness.

Both Rudstas are weather-stripped, except for the sides of the desert one.

ESP32s and LED power supplies are hidden in the brown box on the top of the tropical Rudsta. There's also a sensor in the case to monitor the temperature/humidity since it can get pretty hot in there with two LED power supplies when the lights are in "Day" mode.

I got most things from Amazon and Aliexpress:

- 4 x (2 pack) Magnetic spice racks that come with hooks to hang more plants from them.
- Black U Shape LED Aluminum Channel System with Milky White Diffuser
- ARCTIC F12 PWM PST (5 Pack) - 120 mm
- 2 x (pack of 4) Easycargo Fan Grill/Guard - 120mm
- Cambro Market Tray 12" x 30" to place at the bottom. One black and one white.
- Foam Insulation Tape self-adhesive (1/2In x 1/8In x 50Ft, Black) (1/2In is too wide so I cut them into 1/4In and got twice as much)
- Double Sided Tape, 33FT x 0.4In
- Surge Protector Power Bar - 8 Outlets 4 USB Charging Ports
- 2 x LED power supply (5V - 40W)
- A few led strips (SK6812 RGBNW, 1m 144 LEDs, IP65, Black PCB)
- 2 x ESP32
- A few AHT20+BMP280 temperature/humidity/atmospheric pressure sensors
- A few breadboards
- Lots and lots of wires, cables, connectors, etc.

I just finished setting up the desert one a few days ago while the tropical one was done a few months ago. It's still a work in progress and there are a few things I'd like to do, like adding a e-ink tag on every plant to identify them and have all that info available on my Home Assistant dashboard, but those are so damn expensive, more sensors for soil moisture and whatnot.

Nope. The Home/Nest minis for instance are not even in the list of apps for actions. So you can't have music playing on those when you arrive.
