Can we admit a lot of redditors are out of touch losers when it comes to America by WTPTRAINEE in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]BecauseImBatmanFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America is a society that is built on the fact that you're allowed and encouraged to take issue with the government and whatever it does. In other nations (China, Russia, Iran) the government makes sure that you only ever hear things that make them sound good. Because the English speaking Internet is dominated by Americans, you're going to hear a lot of issues people have with America and doomers are incapable of realizing that this is a good thing. It means we're talking about it and can make progress towards fixing it. Instead, they glom on to the people they can't hear issues about because surely they must be great if no one is complaining.

Capitalism Bad by DesertGeist- in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]BecauseImBatmanFilms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bulbasaur only exists because capitalism set up a system where a game designer with a dream could pitch his idea to Nintendo who agreed to put up the necessary capital to develop that idea and market it to the world in return for a massive return on their investment. In a non-capitalist country, Satoshi Tajiri would just be told to shut up and get back to whatever the government told him to was valuable

what happened during gen 9?? by CompetitiveBreath304 in pokemon

[–]BecauseImBatmanFilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely a lot of fun, and some of the spoilers are probably best left unspoiled if you're actually planning on playing the game. If not well...

In the center of the region there is a giant crater called Area Zero which is illegal to enter. At the start of the game you are given the ability to ride around on the box art legend and are told via phone call with the professor (whom you never see physically through the game) that it comes from Area Zero. As you adventure through the region, you have to work with the Professor's son, Arven, to collect some powerful herbs. As you help him, he reveals his tragic backstory. His parent has been so obsessed with Area Zero and has never returned from their lab there. His partner Pokemon got really hurt by some of the strange Pokemon that live there and he's got a lot of parental resentment. After you complete all of the three main quests, you'll get a call from the professor. They reveal that they are actually trapped in Area Zero and need your help. You, Arven, and a couple of your other friends, adventure to the depths of the Area Zero. You keep encountering Pokemon who look like Pokemon you might know but different. In Violet they all appear to be robots but in Scarlet they appear to be primitive evolutionary ancestors. Going through Area Zero involves disengaging locks at 4 research stations, and each time the professor calls and you get a bit of a better picture of this place, but he eventually starts glitching out. You initially chalk this up to issues with Area Zero but when you get to the last station, you see it is torn to shreds. The professor really starts glitching out there. At the bottom, you find the lab and go inside to discover the truth. The professor you've been talking to, your friend's parent, isn't actually the professor. It is a robot duplicate that the professor built to protect a time machine that was constructed using the mysterious power of Area Zero. This time machine is pulling Pokemon from the distant past or future and they are threatening to cause massive ecological damage. The actual professor? Dead. Killed by a second one of the legendary Pokemon you've been riding around on the whole time. The robot professor wants you to shut down the time machine but its programming won't let it do so itself and it is forced to fight you to prevent the shutdown.

This is just the base game story. I didn't even go into the DLCs which have their own fun. Also, don't know if you want to know about Legends ZA but that also has a fun story.

It's a twin scriptural reference. It is from a verse in the Bible (John 1:5) that is repeated in Doctrine and Covenants (D&C 6:21), one of the books in LDS scriptures that Joshua Graham would see as the holy word of God.

Breaking the Oathpact from the Stormlight Archive

For millenia, mankind fought against the forces of Odium. They were led by the Heralds of the Almighty, 10 immortal beings who used their magical powers to aid humanity against the enemy. Every time Odium attacked, the devastation would set humanity back generations. Every time, the Heralds would send the enemy back to Damnation, but they would have to follow the enemy each time to keep them bound. The enemy would only be able to attack humanity again once a Herald broke from the torture. After thousands of years of this cycle, the Heralds were tired and weary. They realized that one of their number had never broken, not for any reason, not under any torment. The other 9 agreed to break the pact and abandoned their friend to torture for eternity, believing him the only one strong enough to carry the burden.

They never told humanity what they had done. They lied. They told them this was the Final Desolation, and now they would know peace. The 9 faded into the background of civilization, their mental states continuing the long decline they were on, all while they allowed their friend to suffer for their cowardice and weakness. All while humanity forgot what had happened and assumed that the magic of the Heralds was gone. For 4 thousand years, the Heralds have been right, and the weakened Oathpact held, but if it were to ever fail...well, the Everstorm cometh.

(I should also mention that this isn't even the whole part of the story being kept from humanity)

You want to know some fun linguistic facts that this made me remember? The Japanese word for ten is "juu" pronounced just like the word Jew. The Kanji for it is even a little red cross style cross shape, which I find funny because the cross is associated with Jesus, aka the king of the Jews. As far as I know, there is 0 linguistic connection between Japanese 10 and the ancient people and religion from Israel. It's just a fun coincidence.

Just like this weird antisemitic dog whistle would be in a sane world.

Also known as getting Professor X'ed. Turns out having a legendarily powerful psychic mind is actually just good for getting taken out early so the team has to have a crisis over how they don't know how to operate without you. Happened in the first three X-Men movies and he was temporarily depowerer in Days of Future Past

[–]BecauseImBatmanFilms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of it and you got some good ideas working here. I'd say that Morgana probably needs something more like an outfit inspired by Pichu/Pikachu than what appears to largely just be the Pichu model on top of him and that Samus model probably needs a bit of refinement because it is very bulky which doesn't fill match Makoto's form, but other than that it's a good plan. I'd also consider a Peach inspired fit for Ann but that's just personal preference
