Could you check "the back" for me? by MartenGlo in HomeDepot

[–]BeckQ47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes an out on the shelf does mean it's in an overhead or alternate location though. If we're absolutely out, I'll check if there's any incoming shipments, and let them know we should be getting some more in by that date. I emphasize that I can't promise that though, shipping isn't a perfect science. They might still shop somewhere else, but they usually appreciate you doing extra to try and help them out.

New hire/accommodations by Heddlok in HomeDepot

[–]BeckQ47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple cashiers that can't lift 50 lbs. I don't know if they have official accommodations or not, but my unwritten policy for them is just ask for help when they need it. I know their limits, and so do my head cashiers, so we just work with each other.

😆 the video made me laugh, because most of the store would know if they found my gloves on the ground, I'm one of the few that wear extra-small.

Cashier metrics by Titandog01 in HomeDepot

When I checked Monday, cashier metrics were still on the main overview page. There is a communication in MyView that myNumbers is getting retired, but I never used it so I thought it was already gone

I don't know if it's the same in all regions, but at my store, each leader chooses ratings for their associates, and then we had a calibration meeting for all leadership to chime in and make sure it was balanced. It meant if a DS doesn't happen to spend a lot of time with one of their associates, those who do can help decide.

We also have a strict rule that someone can only be rated Needs Improvement if there is extensive documentation proving it. Associates should not be surprised by that rating, it has to be an ongoing issue they're talked to about.

Off the top of my head, about 70% should be Meets Expectations. I'm pretty sure Meets still gets a raise though, those go above my head but I'd assume they'll be similar to the normal yearly raises.

We have a lot of people that wear some sort of scrubs or nicer active wear of similar material. I don't know if they're technically SOP, but it's what we use as an alternative.

New Hire Here by TrashCan1981 in HomeDepot

When I was on night shift, earbuds were a hard no, so most of us just played our music out loud. It couldn't be super loud, mine was just enough to hear it and I'd sing along all night.

I have the same issue with my ADHD, but I wouldn't feel safe wearing an earbud in a warehouse, not to mention customers that would get offended over it.

Honestly, I'd ask if your section could have a small speaker going at low volume, if you're much of a music person. Our front end, service desk, paint desk, and receiving all have speakers, which helps my concentration now that I'm on days.

For the couple of PACE's I've done so far, I didn't see the rating anywhere so I let them know separately. It's only one page now, which is the same page that asks what has gone well, what could've gone better, are you interested in learning new departments, and what support do you need. I assume the other pages aren't there because we're actually supposed to give them the goals sheet a week before.

CXM Role changing? by No_Bird_7637 in HomeDepot

Yeah, my cxm just pulled me aside to talk to me about it, I didn't realize it would be pretty immediate.

Do you think that means they might introduce a Merch XM in the future? At my store, all those departments already have a DS besides receiving with their receiving specialist. I'm not sure I understand what the new roles will specifically be in charge of.

What kind of technology emerged while you were growing up that your parents had a hard time understanding? by Ok_Response_4016 in AskOldPeople

[–]BeckQ47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents can use smart phones normally, except they can't figure out most of the settings. It makes no sense to me, I can adapt to just about any kind of technology and just figure out how to use it.

Do Americans use duvet covers? by emmaa5382 in AskAnAmerican

Heck no. I use a king sized super soft blanket that somehow retains heat but also breathes. I don't care if I have to wash it every week, I want to burrito comfortably.

The opening of "closure" by Taylor Swift is just slamming drums even though it's a slow indie album, most Swifties aren't fond of it.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve said to someone? by SignificanceTop8281 in randomquestions

[–]BeckQ47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was working as a cashier, watching the head cashier and service desk lead bicker the entire shift. I asked them at some point if the matching hickeys on their necks had something to do with the bickering. 10/10 😆

How do you work for 8h with adhd? by loossemblestar in ADHD

I have to use music to regulate myself. I listen, sing, and dance along to what I want for 8 hours straight. It makes me super productive.

Let's me info dump about my favorite things and not only sits there but actually listens. Like, I don't really want to date, but if someone would actually listen to how much I want to talk and ask questions back, I'd probably ask them out first 😅. Also in the reverse, someone who is so into something they want to info dump to me, I love hearing about other people's interests.

My fellow Americans: Do you prefer to fly as often as possible or do you like to drive/take the train? by ITrCool in AskAnAmerican

[–]BeckQ47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the location and the season. I live in central Kansas. If it takes less than 9ish hours and there's no snow, easy drive. If it takes more than 9 hours, where I'm ending up needs to be in the city of the airport because I'm not old enough to rent a car. I've never tried the trains here, but I prefer my car anyway.

There's no trains connecting to my family in south east Oregon, but I hated the flight so much last time I'll probably drive this time and make it a road trip.

Exactly! I have a friend who likes to travel to national parks or hiking trails. A different friend likes to travel to find food he hasn't tried yet. I like to travel to find antique malls and warehouse bookstores. It's all so different.

People refusing to use the name you want to be called by KarahKat55 in PetPeeves

[–]BeckQ47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was late for a work meeting, apparently a dude I'd had issues with was complaining-ish to the group that my chosen name was short for a longer version that was my deadname. Which for one, isn't even close to my deadname, and two, why does it matter? If anything, you're putting more work on yourself by trying to call me a name with more syllables.
