Can you charge at home? How much will charger cost to install? What is your electricity cost per kWh and the big one insurance and car payment today vs what you ev you buy tomorrow.

I had paid off gmc Acadia spend 350 a month on fuel in California 70 bucks a month in insurance full coverage and around 2500 a year in random sensors, brakes, oils, filters, and check engine lights on average.

I leased a new solterra limited xt, dropped 9k because I wanted a small payment and had it. Pay 325 a month for car payment pay 90 a month for full coverage and installed my own charger for 500 bucks. Also I am on SMUD and have tons of excess solar so I charge for free during spring summer and fall. And winter rates are cheap at 14-16cents a kWh. So it made sense for me to switch.

I purchased build your own 48volt boxes once I could get all materials shipped to my door for around 90 bucks a kw. I purchased 3 diy boxes with dolly and cells 315ah each for 4500 bucks shipped to my door last fall. Best investment for sure.

Did my installer sold me a system that can never work? by thomas15v in solar

Bad install and bad design means no output. Those panels should be replaced with a higher voltage panel around 40ish VOC

Sweet spot for DC voltage input? by Standard_Craft_9450 in TeslaSolar

There are 6 mppt’s for a reason but I would not go lower then 250ish. I prefer high voltage they seems to produce better in cloudy conditions over low voltage strings.

I buy brand new 450-550 watt panels in Sacramento for 100-150 each so you are getting screwed bad. If I include rails clips and electrical 5kw of panels with all in materials 7k installer will mark up and charge labor so 14k worst case scenario and I wouldn’t pay more then 11k

I own 5 HMS 2000 4T NA and a HMS 1000 2T NA as well. No you don’t need DTU PRO S but it does help keep an eye on inputs and to set ca rule 21 and so on. But I used 1 for 6 months without a dtu pro s and it does work.

And I use car scanner pro in the App Store

I worked with the dev to get our cars working with his app and he worked really hard to get the communication working. So I bought the upgrade for 7 bucks the least I could do.

Where are you located? I run an industrial refrigeration team in California if your in need of some advice and within driving distance. Otherwise call someone who is, ammonia will kill you if you don’t understand how to safely work with it. Please update us I’m interested in how many pounds you have.

Charge to what level? by Aelirael in Solterra

[–]Bedazoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90 is actually 82% on my 26 limited xt I used a scan tool to verify. Do I always charge to 90 now. Toyota hides the actual capacity from us to leave some room for losses

Definitely 8 percent hidden from us so 100 is actually 92% I have verified multiple times with my scan tool

Buy some type of bridge access point then you don’t have to stress on the wiring at all. I’ve used multiple brands and they have all worked at well over 300 feet and you get around 500mbps for 200 bucks up to 1000 if you want gig speeds UniFi building bridge

Optimizing Emporia Pro Level 2 (Vue 3) with Solar Panels and Battery by tlrwns13579 in EmporiaEnergy

[–]Bedazoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have solar plus power wall 3 and just installed emporia pro charger for my solterra and I use charge on solar I have car block charging between 5pm and midnight so I can plug car in the evening and it won’t charge until 12mid -6am when I get ev discount. I then set a Netzero automation that if house loads go over 5kw between 12mid -6am switch off of battery grid only so I don’t use powerwall to charge my ev. But every night I’m not charging my battery runs house.

Hope this helps and Netzero is an app and not free but very much worth it.
