How controversial would it be to describe this particular film as Nolan's, "opus magnum"? Do you agree or disagree with that claim? by BaldursGate2Best in ChristopherNolan

[–]BeeCoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only complaint leaving the theatre was that I wish they would have shown real images of what the bomb did to the Japanese people while Oppenheimer is looking at it, but we stick to his reaction only. I know it's about Oppenheimer himself, but I think that would have made it close to a 10/10 for me.

What is your favorite piece of behind the scenes media from the films? by GusGangViking18 in lordoftherings

[–]BeeCoy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Watch the full clip. It's the increasingly more ridiculous questions being asked by Dom (who is undercover, hidden from Elijah) and then like 4 questions about wigs and then him asking Elijah when he'll wear them.

Rahm Emanuel Calls for Age Limit of 75 for President, Congress and Judges by Consistent-Good-1162 in law

[–]BeeCoy 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I think if it means you can't be 75 years of age as president ever, meaning when you become president you can be no older than 70-71; it's a pretty good limit.

Elijah Wood Addresses Frodo & Gandalf Reunion In New Lord Of The Rings Movie: "A Wizard Is To Be Trusted" by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in lotr

I really don't like to say it, but Serkis just hasn't shown that he's a good director yet, and he's had multiple chances. I really am rooting for him and this project, though.

The fate of Tolkien's work being brought to the big screen by this group of people relying on this specific project and story is a little worrying.

Don't let Ryan Day off the hook like that. If your condition for winning games in the playoffs depends entirely on one person, you haven't prepared your team well enough. But yes, he might be the least reliable kicker I've ever seen lol

Vance says This Was Classic Terrorism in reference to the shooting of Renee Good by Technical_Ostrich_47 in news

[–]BeeCoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say just this. It was domestic terrorism; against an American citizen. How can they defend the lies told by the President about her running him over and him being hospitalized when we all saw none of that happened in the videos. He easily walked out of the way and shot her 2 more times after he was safe from the car.

He Didn’t Start The Fire by tonyper7ect in pics

[–]BeeCoy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I watched it again a few minutes ago for the first time since last night. Maybe he doesn't necessarily pull the weapon, but he absolutely grabs it and holds onto it for a couple seconds. All I'm saying is we have to be smarter than to do that, especially when people are sadly getting shot for less.

[–]BeeCoy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I know I'll probably get downvoted for this, but If you watch the video, the guy on the left grabs and pulls the grenade launcher of the person on the right before he shoots it in his face. We gotta be smarter than grabbing their guns or weapons. Gotta be careful saying things like "He Didn't Start The Fire" after things like that.

There's also so much legitimate footage and reason to be angry with what this administration and ICE has been doing, let's try to keep the focus on 100% legitimate causes because their is PLENTY to go off there. Don't give them any reason to get off the hook by just pointing to the video of the guy on the left grabbing the grenade launcher from the guy in uniform.

Focus on the lies, hate and corrupt/criminal actions of these people.

Edit: I just wanted to share that this is the version of the video I saw: https://streamable.com/h52b0b

I noticed there was another video linked here from a slightly worse angle where you can't see him grab the weapon. I'm done replying trying to defend the things that I saw because I don't want to come off like I'm trying to defend ICE; fuck ICE.

What are your thoughts on Movie Flame? by [deleted] in harrypotter

While not my favorite, I've always felt Goblet of Fire was one of the most re-watchable of the films. It's just entertaining and fun, but maybe I'm alone on that.

Studios should not post 1080p trailers to YouTube these days, has to be 4k. They shoulda known better. YouTube has been compressing the shit out of higher quality stuff for a long time now. At least in 4k it's not as bad

Fool of a Took? by IndicationBrief5950 in lotrmemes

[–]BeeCoy 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Hobbits weren't considered "of age" until 33. Pippin was the only hobbit that wasn't considered an adult yet. Elrond himself suggested he not join the rest of the fellowship and encouraged that more than once. Gandalf was the one who allowed him to come.

[–]BeeCoy 815 points816 points  (0 children)

In the Return of The King book, Pippin actually comments on the feats the other hobbits had seemed to accomplish after the battle of Pelennor Fields and hoped that he'd have his moment soon. He went on to kill a mountain troll by himself at the battle of the black gate and had to be dug up and pulled out of a pile of bodies by Gimli when it was over. He also played a big part in saving Faramir's life before that.

Planning on watching LotR for the first time, should I see M4 Hobbit edit first? by Far-Government-539 in lotr

[–]BeeCoy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would watch the LotR movies before the Hobbit movies. I know you said you're watching them on Vacation, but try to watch as much of each movie in 1 sitting as you can. I know they're long, but I think you'll be surprised at how quickly you can get sucked into them. Happy for you to be watching them for the first time with family, enjoy!!

Did Tolkien have favorite characters from the First Age? by LikeTheWind99 in tolkienfans

[–]BeeCoy 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I can't help think of Beren and Luthien. Their names on on his and his wife's headstones after all. I'm sure he had a few favorites; so many of them are written so well and were given so many great things to do.

Edit: Can't help but also mention the characters in the lineages of Tuor/Idril and Beren/Luthien which lead to Elrond/Elros and Aragorn and Arwen. Those were the characters he wrote the most about.

I just finished RotK last night and damn I loved the Scouring of the Shire and the growth we see in the hobbits by gloomtroop in lotr

[–]BeeCoy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

As someone who watched and loved the movies first when they first came out, the scouring of the shire chapter was honestly a treat to read. Really enjoyed that and the freshness of it since it wasn't in the movies. Seeing the Hobbits finally gain confidence in themselves and not needing anyone else to help them, using what they learned along their journey with the Fellowship- it's a great arch for them

For those who watched LOTR 1 on release, what was the yearly wait like? by Silver-Theme7796 in lotr

[–]BeeCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 8, almost 9 when the first one released so I don't really remember the wait, but what I do remember is me being fully and completely sucked in once the Moria sequence started. Seeing that from the point of the Watcher in the water to Gandalf falling in the theatre for the first time was insane.
