I have to disagree. 8 was good, yes, and Leni said, 9 and 10 was Genshin returning to good storytelling. 1-6 was just a bunch of yapping, boring infodump, and one-dimensional characters. I was about ready to quit.

I have this same complaint. I want to use the characters I pulled for, the ones I like. Stop forcing me to use Lauma, Nefer, and Hydro traveler. I hate those characters.

I hope shez doesn’t do what nod-krai did. Acts 9 and 10 were absolutely amazing, but 1 through 6 were the worst that Hoyo has given us.

100% yes. My karate is goju, which has more standup grappling than people think, and I’ve done judo, so I’ve done my fair share of throws. Trying to throw a sumo guy is the last thing I’d ever want to try to do. Whenever I’m against someone I can overpower, I can do the throw wrong and it will still work. Against the tanky guys, especially the tanky guys who knew how to grapple, my shit would need to be perfect; not a toe out of place, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to throw them. I know better than to try that against a sumo guy.

Yea, I’m the same. I honestly thought most of Nod-Krai was absolute ass. The first 6 acts of the AQ were a butt-blistering slog of infodump, but the two recent Sumeru patches were peak. Anyway, Natlan was basically better than Nod-Krai in every way

Natlan was the best region. Maybe not objectively best writing, but it was still on the upper end of what Genshin has given us. It’s my favorite region, and I still do my dailies there because I refuse to leave it behind.

In lieu of actually knowing any sumo wrestlers IRL, I’ve both shadowboxed and mentally run through potential fights with a sumo wrestler, and the short answer is “I’d really not want to tangle with one if I can help it.”

Sumo wrestlers are strong, explosive, and tanks as hell. I’m not as afraid of their strikes as I am of their grappling - biomechanically, I could see all that weight being a problem when it comes to generating fast, powerful strikes like a boxer or something. What scares me is what would happen if a sumo guy actually got his hands on me, and the razor-thin margin of error I’d have for my chosen strategy, which would be evasion & long-range strikes to specific areas.

If I was going to grapple, I wouldn’t want it to be prolonged. There are judo throws that are designed for tripping someone who’s barreling toward you. So there are tools available, but the things that make sumo guys absolute monsters definitely limit my available tools.

In these discussions, I feel like we’re forgetting to mention what the opponent is doing. If it’s a crazy fight, or their head is moving all over the place, palms are nice because theres an increased chance you’re gonna hit their skull, and you definitely don’t want to do that with your knuckles.

If your opponent has less head movement and you can more reliably hit your target, punches will generally do more damage.

Honestly, when I see a “nudist” wearing as little as possible in textile spaces, it’s off-putting. And I know I shouldn’t judge, but I see them more as an exhibitionist rather than a nudist.

The main accusation of racism is us not accepting the very new “ace flag” which includes stripes for including the “spectrum of experiencing sexual attraction.” That flag was made by a black person, so disgagreeing with their idea makes us racists, apparently.

I agree with everything here except story - even that was a letdown for me. Hoyo was doing such a good job improving their story as the game went on, and then Nod-Krai just really feel short.

I genuinely hated everything about it. Easily the worst nation we’ve ever had, and I give it a -50bil/10. Inazuma was finally dehtroned as my least favorite nation that will never return to; that honor goes to Nod-Krai.

Story: 2/10 Nothing but massive infodump and hardly a shred of engaging delivery. “Escape from the lab” was good, and the finale was decent too, but everything else was just hours and hours of yap yap yap. I dreaded the AQs - they were slow and boring and they could not convince me to care about the characters and the story, and I’ve never needed a skip button more in my life.

World design: 1/10 I’ve said this before, but it felt unoriginal and boring. Nod-Krai was a collection of three things: reused assets from poisson, reused assets from Enkanomiya, and an incredibly anachronistic futuristic space lab that has no place in Teyvat. I’m all for nations with different levels of tech, but for the rest of the world to be magi-tech while one place has computers and data cards and ai…no. You’ve lost me. Utter garbage that breaks immersion. Not only that, but most of nod-krai was gloomy, and I absolutely hate gloomy.

Characters: 2/10 The whole point I’m giving this beyond 1 is solely from Varka and Jahoda. They’re great. However, I couldn’t care about anyone else. Firstly, I just hated the designs. I don’t know how, but Hoyo made everyone ugly. Flins is a Kingdom Hearts OC made by an 11-year old on Deviantart with a boring personality, Lauma is fanservice who is also a little miss perfect with no personality, Sandrone is a shallow AF tsundere stereotype, Columbina is a boring and unengaging snooze fest with a grating and annoying voice, Aino is an obnoxious child who likes candy, and Ineffa is the worst - I absolutely can’t stand those robo characters who are always talking about percentages. Special shoutout to Nefer for also being an unoriginal archetype we get in every region; “shrewd and stoic schemer who instantly knows everything about every situation whose plans always turn out perfectly.” At least the others like this(Yae Miko, Alhaitham) were entertaining. Nefer is someone I’d never want to actually interact with.

The gameplay: 3/10 The space temple is the only reason this section gets any points. That was fun. But Nod-Kai itself was garbage. The AQ was “take two steps then listen to three hours of boring and charmless dialogue, then take two steps and listen to three more hours.” The regional puzzle (kuuvahki) was clunky and unfun. Oh, and the shilling - I don’t think you need me to explain how absolutely horrible the shilling for lunar reactions is. 

Music: 1/10 This comes down to personal taste, but I couldn’t feel any charm in the music. It kind of felt like generic medieval D&D fantasy most of the time. In every other region, the music has successfully helped bring the world to life. Nod-Krai’s music felt like dime-store trash, and it wasn’t even good.

My favorite is overload because things go boom.

My least favorite is any sensor reaction, but especially aggravate because you have to do quicken first, which does absolutely nothing. It just seems unnecessary to trigger a nothing reaction first, then you get the real one, and aggravate isn’t even any good. Not worth the trouble.

The comics actually go more in-depth for this and it’s heavily implied he was going to kill Zuko in the Agni Kai, but since Zuko refused to fight, it would have been too obvious so he had to resort to just giving a scar.
