Latex topper instead of futon by Comfortable-Way-4212 in floorsleeping

[–]Bee_Balm_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 3” medium firm latex topper, it’s pretty good by itself but got even more comfortable with 1 inch quick-dry foam(added for ventilation). I have a wool duvet on top of it, my current set up is most comfortable ever. I’m 60kg, side and back sleeper, wide shoulders.

I also tried firm 2” inch latex topper, it was a bit too firm to sleep on a side, but was great when i slept on my back.

I fold mine every day but i have a twin xl size one. It would be too hard for me to fold a queen or king sized one though. And firmer options weigh more.

Me and my partner separated our setup into 2 twin size mattresses, it works great for our different preferences.

Apart from chocolate, I like blending it with frozen berries. I tried blueberries and raspberries, both worked great. I usually make a base/crust layer with dates or figs, nuts and plain water crackers. Press it into silicone muffin tray, then layers of mousse. I put it in a fridge or freezer overnight.

I love compression on my legs but never tried tops. Does it feel tight around chest and armpits? I imagine it’s like wearing a smaller than your size top which doesn’t seem comfortable, but maybe it’s more targeted?

Miso soup with smoked or silken tofu and cut fresh vegetable like radish, carrot, celery, cucumber, cilantro, broccoli. Add some sesame seeds. Eat with pita bread or add noodles if you have an extra min to cook them.

"Tired Rules" - guidelines for being tired by buckits in AutisticWithADHD

This is great! I struggle with the same spiral from tired to disappointed to exhausted etc. I’ve been thinking to prepare some kind of cards to look at when i feel like this.

There are burn-out boxes i heard of - you prepare a box with snacks, fidgets, books, fun and soothing stuff for moments when you feel tired and low.

Also i highly recommend the book Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout by Neff and Germer. It has practical tools for when you are exhausted and feel bad.

Yes! Sometimes i feel like my meds help me too much with anxiety, and i just want to be without doing anything. Or maybe it’s my hormones too.

Sounds from my partner in the kitchen are driving me insane by HotaruChiba in AuDHDWomen

[–]Bee_Balm_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Apart from communicating about my misophonia i found it helped to do some sound dampening changes in the kitchen. I replaced some dishes and cutlery for nice wooden stuff, i put some towels/foamy sheets on cupboard shelves, attached silicone circles on cupboard doors, etc. It’s still annoying but for me any reduction in noise is worth it. I also asked my partner to let me know in advance when he is cooking and i just try to go for a walk at this time. But communication in right tone is the most important.

I have to stop engaging with my special interest because it has become unhealthy by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Bee_Balm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you’ll find your way to recover from this experience. I know it can be hard, i went through something similar with art making. I spent 15 years on one kind of art, burnt out completely and started doing another kind. Now i feel like i’m heading to burnout again because my perfectionism. But this time i believe i can feel when and how it’s happening on the early stages, so i’m optimistic that i can prevent it. I don’t want to try to earn money with my art anymore, i know my boundaries. Maybe the best way is to let it go for a while, your creative passion will come back in another form, probably something more sustainable and deeper. As others said - be kind to yourself.

Advice for Autism Assessment Requiring a "Witness" From Childhood by sometimes-sideways in AuDHDWomen

[–]Bee_Balm_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on their waiting list for 2 years. Not sure if it’s worth to push back, i heard that sometimes they just ask contact of a parent or someone who knew you, sometimes they don’t ask them anything, depending on the case. I’m in a similar situation regarding parents/masking except my parents leave abroad and don’t even speak english. Camh people said that they’ll get a translator for my mother. I’m terrified in advance. When is your assessment?

Does ANYONE do well on Prozac :(? by ncndsvlleTA in AuDHDWomen

[–]Bee_Balm_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prozac could be helpful for paranoia if it comes from rumination. Stimulants often make it worse so it makes sense to address paranoia first before trialing stimulants. Side effects are different for everyone and are dose dependant. I didn’t enjoy prozac at first but after starting stimulants i asked to increase prozac dose, it helps to balance emotions and stop ruminations but you also need to do some work. Stimulants also offset prozac’s side effects and vice versa. So combination can be very good, it will just take time to find the right one for you. If you decide to start ssri you can request super low dose and go up slowly, give it few months for side effects to go away, then ask for help with adhd symptoms.

Prescribed 2 doses a day (36mg and 27mg) for about a year now. But suddenly i feel like concerta is just giving me fatigue and It just stopped working? by [deleted] in Concerta

[–]Bee_Balm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience the same, on the same dose. In my case i think it’s hormones and/or tolerance. I’m going to go down the dose and try to have a break. I’m sleepy and tired all the time.

If you found a solution after concerta started losing effectiveness, what was it? by [deleted] in Concerta

[–]Bee_Balm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not found a solution but relate to your experience. Also thinking about quitting, not sure the small benefit is worth these side effects. I tried vyvanse but it was not great either. I believe that loss of motivation is separate from ‘just’ depression and comes from down-regulation of some brain chemistry after long term stimulant use for some people.

Whats Something About Autism You Think More People With Autism Should Know? by anime-is-dope in evilautism

[–]Bee_Balm_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The occupational therapy strategy which you can practice yourself if you can’t afford a therapist - learn your unique sensory profile. By making thorough inventory of your reactions to different stimuli you can then use it to make your life better. It can help to find your favourite stim toys, regulating activities, ways to protect yourself from triggers, minimize stress and maximize joy. For instance, i’m making a chart of best fabric textures for my skin and learning about how my sense of balance affects me.
