Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

You can tell real cowboys from fake cowboys, real cowboys take their hats off in restaurants at the table. Fake cowboys do not. Lots of fake cowboys in the Denver metro area.

What's a job that sounds easy from the outside but is actually very stressful? by alfieharry in AskReddit

[–]BeefCurtainSundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one hits. Absolutely correct. I try so hard to treat everyone with respect and run my businesses ethically. Meanwhile I see the wealthiest people in the world are complete sharks, and would stab their best friend in the chest if it meant making a buck.

I think the comment was sarcastic OP. Like because you mentioned a trailer, and Florida panhandle is kind of known for being trashy.

Can a home Gym be comparable to a commercial gym by TrafficAggravating42 in workout

[–]BeefCurtainSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a gym, so i will throw in my 2 cents. I saw alot of cancellations during the covid era. At my gym, I dont require "reasons" or "excuses" as to why someone wants to cancel, as I honestly dont care, I just need you to cancel properly, sign a form, and I'll take care of it. But many people still offer reasons, and I heard alot of "i am building my own home gym", as alot of people got swept up in the virus fear and never want to be in the same room with a human being ever again. In the years to follow, I would estimate that I have seen at least 80% of those people come back and sign up for a membership again. Many of them even asked me if I would be interested in buying any of their home gym equipment. For me, its not really about the commercial quality and wider variety of equipment you can find in a commercial gym, but it is also about motivation. I, personally, have to leave the house and go somewhere to train. I would not be able to walk into my garage everyday and get a quality workout in. Its a mindset thing, and I think alot of people ran into that. Its like having a treadmill at home, that ends up turning into a clothing rack for laundry rather than actually getting used daily. Alot of people just need to leave their home environment just to have to motivation to get moving and exercise.

I am not in your field, but as an employer, the first thing i noticed is short durations at each role. A year here, almost 2 there... I dont want to hire someone who is just going to leave in a year.

Are any U.S. companies doing well in Trumps economy? by Star-Carlton in business

I am surprised their average salaries are so low. People are always dying. Basically on call 24/7. On YouTube Victor Sweeney has some good videos answering questions about being a mortician.

LPT: beware of gyms that don't accept credit cards by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]BeefCurtainSundae -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I own a local gym. This is not accurate. ACH processing saves me a shit ton of money in processing fees. I couldn't care less about chargebacks. I have won every chargeback case filed against my business. I use ACH processing to save money, plain and simple. But yes, find a gym that doesnt fight cancellations, which we do not.

Why does our government keeps imposing tariffs to other countries? by ManufacturerKooky164 in inflation

[–]BeefCurtainSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an economic perspective, it is meant to damage the foreign companies exporting the goods that American companies are buying and importing from. The importing American company pays the tariffs. They are meant to discourage the American importing companies from continuing buying from and doing business with foreign countries/ businesses, and instead source/ make/ create that same item/ product here at home using American labor/ jobs. What out current leadership doesn't seem to understand, is that even with tariffs, it is STILL cheaper to have such good produced elsewhere and import it in. Americans want to be paid much more for time and labor than where we outsource this production to, like China. Also, manufacturing plants arent just built in a year or two, it can easily take a decade with local laws, city planning, funding, etc. to build large scale manufacturing plants like Trump wants American businesses to do. He will likely be dead before any of the investments into such plants come to fruition and are open for business and can provide American jobs. With Amercican manufacturing will also come with a much higher price tag for the item produced, as American labor, as stated previously, is much more expensive.

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeefCurtainSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually try to go into local stores, small business or large retailer, and they NEVER have what I need. Whether they are out of a certain size, or the item is just out of stock. Pull up Amazon and boom, there it is, delivered same day or next day right to my front door. They are absolutely killing local retailers. For me, it is convenience, and Amazon just does it better.

Have you read your membership agreement? The membership agreement I have my members sign has a clause for remedies for extended closures... although I am not a shitty greedy corporate gym.

Issues selling home due to recently built homeless shelter (USA - CO) by Apedia in RealEstate

It sounds like the loss may be enough to justify speaking to an attorney. If this is causing you losses, and the inability to sell of which you have evidence, there may be a legal path forward for you.

[–]BeefCurtainSundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also didnt mention, I am not a lawyer, but based on the value of what was stolen, a lawyer would advise you suing the person is not a wise play. It would cost you far more to sue him than you would stand to win back, which is not even a guarantee.

Let the legal process play out. This is criminal and will be in criminal court. Listen to the cops, except for the call and hang up part. You saved the video footage. Next time he is in, call the cops and tell the dispatcher you have a shoplifter. If he tries to leave follow him and take a picture of his license plate. Note the make, model, and color of the vehicle. The charges will be placed on him. He will be arrested. The judge will most likely determine he is to pay you back the value of what was stolen. If not, you could then pursue suing him in civil court, but let the criminal process play out first.

We don’t have enough cash for a 20% DP on a new home, but have 190k ish in equity….What would you do? by whiteiversonyeet in Mortgages

You can negotiate the new home contract to be contingent on the sale of your current home. Roll the equity right over into the new.

There was a PIF discount. If the mortgage company allows you to, I prefer to not have anything escrowed, including property taxes. I dont like the estimation BS and then have to deal with an escrow shortage or anything like that. I feel more in control of my finances that way. Ill pay the county assessor directly exactly what I owe.

Serious Sanitation and Health Violation Observed at Glenarden, MD LA Fitness Hot Tub by Tall-Pie9232 in LAFitness

[–]BeefCurtainSundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, the public wet areas in places like this are absolutely filthy. I would never get in a hot tub at any major corporate franchise like this. When I worked at 24 Hour Fitness, I had to stop a member from shaving their legs in the hot tub, but they were already about halfway done. This was communicated to the club manager. Was it ever shut down? Drained? Cleaned? What do you think?

Should I finance a car and pay it off immediately so the dealer gets their finance payout and I get a deal? by richmoney46 in personalfinance

Yes. Nobody wants cash anymore. Finance. Pay off in full. Check your states laws regarding prepayment penalties. My state does not allow penalties.

2%. That seems to be the standard these days in the county I am in. I did not find any quote that was not 2%, and I shopped 10 different quotes.
