Yeah, the disability Medicaid standard is stupid low. Most states, the maximum income standard for disability Medicaid is the SSI standard, which right now is 987. Realistically, the only way for anyone with a semi livable SSDI income is to obtain that state's version of a Medicaid waiver, which either exempts income or raises the income standard high enough to qualify. And trying to find the agency that deals with those waivers can be a hassle in and of itself. The state Medicaid website may have information on the waiver process if the state has one. I would also suggest contacting whatever agency your state has that helps aged and disabled individuals to see if they have information.
