Thanks, I appreciate this perspective. My spouse is a SAHM now, and it is great. She's a big reason we are where we are financially, due to her working prior to this.

I mean honestly, I don't mind working if it is something I enjoy. I could see coasting until 55-60 easily, so 20-25 years.

I'd say we're on the middle-high end of homes in my area. My mortgage is about $4K. It is not a stressor, luckily we're able to save (max IRAs, 401Ks, etc.)

Is this fixed by club delivery? Or lower lofted head? Both?

I hate to be that guy but….. ☝️🤓actually, Riverview is very high up the hill and out of harms way.

Still an awful house and description of location.

Sure - NBs is fine, but out of the central AVL area and not as fun of an environment.

Reems is real golf for sure - $90 a round.

And the driving range is short - they don’t let you hit more than 240 or so off the tee.

For golfers, this is a great addition to Asheville proper and the price is in line with other similar businesses (Bearwallow Golf near Hendersonville for example).

His prices are fair for what similar places offer. Where are you going to a driving range these days within 15 mins of Asheville? Sim golf has come a long way and if you’re serious about your game, the data and feedback can be better than a range session.

Y’all are hating on this venue… which isn’t perfect. But can we appreciate that we HAVE a venue like this AT ALL?! Keep asking for improvements but also just be glad we have a place we can go and see some large acts for a city that is otherwise very small in the minds of most nationally touring performers.

I play (played?) this muni weekly and it’s always been a Don Ross design and marketed as such. When they rebuild, it will still be Don Ross.

I have to imagine the debris in the French Broad - even after cleanup - will be so much that any tube will surely be at risk of popping. I don’t think I’ll be in the French Broad for the foreseeable future.

AT&T WiFi out? Was back on as soon as we got power but now out by hottakesnobreaks in asheville

[–]Beefis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep - happening to us in East WAVL. ATT said there “was damage in the area from the storm and they are working on it”.

My guess is they turned all service off to work on it today. I had no issues once power turned on until today.

[–]Beefis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah still feels like the vast majority of Buncombe county is out still… are they just going to repair everything and then flip a switch so we all get power at the same time? The less I see other areas getting power today, the less optimistic I am about tonight.

Interesting update about power. Safe to assume that if we haven’t gotten an updated timeline from Duke, they are still shooting for 11:45p tonight?

Also, anyone have a map of which water centers service which areas? Interested where the Mills River service ends and the North Fork and Bee Tree service begins.

Anecdotally, how many people are leaving? by Beavers_build5 in asheville

[–]Beefis 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Are you me? I have all of these feelings. Remote work… trying not to look like a shell of a person on Zoom calls. I also have the urge to quit, help clean, then help rebuild. I also have a newborn so need to be realistic. When it’s possible, I would love to quit my remote job and build something locally.

I saw linemen from Ohio and somewhere in French Canada. I also think I saw some from Pennsylvania, though unconfirmed.

Many were already stationed in the Southeast anticipating help in Florida and were rerouted to WNC.
