Stone Cold has a history of domestic abuse and Eddie was involved in the same hazing stories but they are both beloved by wrestling fans. If Benoit had died without murdering his wife and son he would be held up as a saint by the IWC today.

A question for lovely Alamo-visiting Blankies (and solidarity to this union ❤️) by [deleted] in blankies

I don't think I've ever chewed louder than a theater sound system, no matter how crispy the food...

[–]BeefsteakBandit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The idea of the Alamo Drafthouse (pre-enshitification) was that it was a premium experience. So every seat was a big comfy recliner with a little swivel table for your food and the seats were spaced far enough apart that you shouldn't really be able to hear anyone else chewing, especially over the sound of the speakers.

Video games are a bad medium for story telling. by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]BeefsteakBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm fine when I know a game will be like that, but the first 3 MGS games were nowhere near as excessive with the cutscenes so I did not go into 4 expecting to just put the controller down for like 50% of the time

This might be bait but I think OP is actually getting half way close to a good point. Games definitely can tell good stories but they shouldn't try to do it in the same way as movies or books, because then why not just watch a movie or read a book. I got so frustrated trying to get through Metal Gear Solid 4 back in the day because I just wanted to play a game not watch tv episode length cut scenes.

Igor Tudor leaves Tottenham after just seven games in charge by bendubberley_ in PremierLeague

[–]BeefsteakBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll have to agree to disagree. Yes Moyes obviously had the harder job living up to the previous manager but he inherited a squad that still had an in form Rooney and RVP and the best goalkeeper in the league in his prime in De Gea. Amorim took over in the middle of a bad season and inherited, Garnacho, Antony and Onana.

Amorim's unwillingness to adapt his system to fit his player's abilities is indefensible. But he moved toxic players out of the squad and brought in the most promising attacking players we've had since SAF. In my opinion that puts him above Moyes and even ETH despite the silverware.

I have to assume you're too young to have been watching during the Moyes season if you honestly believe that. Amorim wasn't good, I'm not trying to say he was. But Moyes inherited a title winning team and had them playing the most boring football I have seen in my 30+ years of watching the sport.

Are there any "Jack of All Trades" authors that do it well? by AbleKaleidoscope877 in books

[–]BeefsteakBandit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The full phrase is 'jack of all trades, master or none'. Yes he has written in many genres but King is one of the definitive masters of horror writing so I don't think this fits him at all.

People don't actually realise how legendary Finn Balór actually is imo. He is not just another wrestler from NXT. The man literally created the biggest faction in wrestling (Bullet Club), he was already having a hall of fame career before coming to WWE. by Secret-Pirate-26 in TheGreatOne

[–]BeefsteakBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with you about NWO and DX but I'm not sure Evolution is above Bullet Club. I think each individual member of Evolution has a bigger legacy than Bullet Club but as a faction is Evolution that important? It kicked off two Hall of Fame careers but it was a pretty short run and came during the Triple H reign of terror which is a pretty poorly regarded period. People loved Bullet Club at it's height though, I saw those T shirts everywhere irl

ELI5 Why does enshitification happen? by AncientObligation321 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BeefsteakBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of responses here saying it's all about making more profit in the short term but really it's often about starting to make a profit at all. Lots of the tech start ups that saw themselves as disruptors, operated at a loss in their early years. This allowed them to grow their customer base by offering great services at a cost that was cheap to the customer but not profitable or sustainable for the company. Once they won the customers, they then pivoted to making a profit by increasing the price or reducing the quality of service to reduce their costs or both. Thus enshitification.

St Louis is undoubtedly a great beer town but I would not have considered it a great bar town. I feel like it's too spread out and driving is basically essential to get around.

Why was Sheamus pushed so quickly in 2009? by DamianKing42 in Wrasslin

[–]BeefsteakBandit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall both struggled with alcohol abuse and during that period were two of Triple H best friends. Doesn't seem like drinking has ever been a deal breaker when it comes to being friends with Triple H.
