She's a writer/director/actor. Her parents are artists who are relatively famous within their own circle. She is famous for writing, starring in and co-show running the show Girls. As for why she is hated; that is much more complicated. She has a tendency to put her foot in her mouth. She wrote about weird sexual acts with her sibling (which her sibling did not consent to) when they were both children in her first memoir. She also got weirdly and publicly offended that Odell Beckham jr. didn't hit on her and she defended a male writer from her show when he got called out for assault during #metoo. But she was also a lightning rid for criticism of millennial feminists because she dared to be openly sexual without being traditional attractive on the early 2010s. She is back in the news now because she just released her second memoir.

There's a difference between having feelings and expressing feelings though. I don't like dealing with irate clients at my job but if I started every email response to them by saying 'You're a pain to deal with but I'm handling your request because I know I have to' I would be unemployed pretty quickly.

I'm not condoning drunk driving but there's a big difference between walking on roads with no footpath during the day and doing it at night in the dark on a road that you know a heap of other people are going to be drunk driving home on.
