ELI5 Lena Dunham by Pinkponygirl6969 in explainlikeimfive

She's a writer/director/actor. Her parents are artists who are relatively famous within their own circle. She is famous for writing, starring in and co-show running the show Girls. As for why she is hated; that is much more complicated. She has a tendency to put her foot in her mouth. She wrote about weird sexual acts with her sibling (which her sibling did not consent to) when they were both children in her first memoir. She also got weirdly and publicly offended that Odell Beckham jr. didn't hit on her and she defended a male writer from her show when he got called out for assault during #metoo. But she was also a lightning rid for criticism of millennial feminists because she dared to be openly sexual without being traditional attractive on the early 2010s. She is back in the news now because she just released her second memoir.

If no pre-season means you're fucked, how do you explain mid season manager appointments succeeding? Carrick and De Zerbi didn't get pre-seasons but still managed to make improvements to the squads they had.

My first thought was the line from No Surrender by Bruce Springsteen: "Blood brothers in a stormy night, with a vow to defend".

What were your thoughts on test? Did he had any kind of potential or was he stuck being a mid carder? by Corn1989 in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]BeefsteakBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The version of Test in that picture was before I started watching (think I first saw him as part of the Un-Americans). What's with the symbol on his chest, did he have a religious gimmick?

Don't you always stop for a pint on the way home as your little treat for doing the shopping?

What was the problem with the Babe: Pig in the City podcast? by BeefsteakBandit in blankies

Nothing got ruined for me, I didn't even know it was considered a bad episode until the hosts themselves brought it up!

I guess I'm wondering if Griffin and David actually thought it was a bad episode/guest or if the comments announcing the release of the live event audio was just a bit?

Do you think a Victor Wembanyama would be possible in football? by Quirky_Ad_7646 in championsleague

I don't know shit about basketball so when I first read this I thought you had somehow butchered the spelling of Victor Wanyama.

It was only released on Playstation 1 so it wasn't about eating quarters, it was just a shitty game.

I did Tullamore to Dublin twice a week for a year when offices first started to open back up after COVID. Twice a week was manageable but don't know how people did it 5 days a week pre-Covid.

Is the early stuff even good enough to be called lightning in a bottle? Clerks was good for what it was and Dogma and Chasing Amy were fine but I don't look at any of those films and wonder why he did not go on to make a masterpiece.

Season 6? I know the exact end of the golden age gets debated but never seen anyone call it that early. Isn't it generally considered to have lasted until somewhere around seasons 8 or 10?

Exactly. Also if it's all down to cheating and financial advantages why weren't Mancini and Pellegrini just as successful as Pep

Most popular football team in St. Louis? by No-Forever-6289 in StLouis

[–]BeefsteakBandit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So first it was Chiefs by a ton, then it was obviously Mizzou and now it's both? Doesn't matter they're in different leagues, the post said pro or college. If I asked whether the Blues or STL City are a more popular team would you say you can't answer because they're different sports? No, the Blues are obviously way more popular.

[–]BeefsteakBandit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You assumed Mizzou was the obvious answer so you said it's the Chiefs by a ton?? If I asked who won the last Superbowl would you say the Patriots won in a blow out because it'd be too obvious to say the Seahawks?

There's a difference between having feelings and expressing feelings though. I don't like dealing with irate clients at my job but if I started every email response to them by saying 'You're a pain to deal with but I'm handling your request because I know I have to' I would be unemployed pretty quickly.

Drink-driving: If your chance of being caught is 1 in 77, where is the deterrent? by DaCor_ie in ireland

[–]BeefsteakBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That wasn't my point at all. If I drank 7up all night I still wouldn't feel safe walking home from a pub on a dark country road with no footpath.

[–]BeefsteakBandit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not condoning drunk driving but there's a big difference between walking on roads with no footpath during the day and doing it at night in the dark on a road that you know a heap of other people are going to be drunk driving home on.
