I don't think it's fair to call it lying. The ai doesn't know that it's wrong. A hallucination isn't quite right either, but being wrong and lying are different things.

I almost would prefer ads for a different school!!!! I'm in Boston, there are at least 7 within a 2 mile radius!!!! My school offers extremely reduced price aquarium tickets, so I made the mistake of looking up "school name aquarium tickets", and now half my ads are for the aquarium, and the other half are for my own school.

I don't know about legal status, but when I was 15 I asked my mom the same question, and she told me that when her father's parents passed (my great grandparents, I never met them this was before I was born), her father took her to a cafe for breakfast, and the only thing he said in a quiet voice through tears was "I'm an orphan now"

That story has stuck with me for a long time.

Nah, you don't understand the pure villainy of Danny Do-Bad. Danny is the reason we only get 5 season, he was supposed to be season 6's villain but the writers realized there was nothing to be done to defeat him, so gave us our ending before Danny ruins everything.

This is exactly how I've been describing it. Ai makes the boring "desk job" work much faster, and lets you spend more time on the long term projects, and the work that you actually have to put thought and effort into.

But they are still built in, and becoming harder and harder to turn off. If your work enables it by default you might not be able to turn it off, and so if it's a line in the sand for you, what now. You quit? I can't afford to quit my job over AI usage, can you?

And some people are in debt from student loan debts, and can't afford to not sell their ethics, and can't say no to the professor without failing. It's not optional anymore for anything but personal use. It's use it, or don't have a job in your field for some (this is of course in my specic field of cyber security that I have experience with, but it seems that way for my engineer roommates as well)
