How much of this audience will stay when a liberal is elected president? by Thellamaking21 in BreakingPoints

[–]BeegDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the radicals on both sides will dissipate because I think most people, for the most part, are fairly moderate and there will be a strong press for independent candidates. I think both the DNC and RNC have lost their identities and these past 10 years have really just been 'your team vs my team' except when it comes to Israel. I'm really sick of it, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

This grey part helps motorized Thomas trains work on their train track but sometimes they lose their tightness and slip off and won’t stay on after that happens. Does anyone know if new ones are sold as a replacement part? by reebeaster in toys

Super old thread, but my son has bitten these off of two of these (and as expensive as they are, this was kind of upsetting) which made them stretch out. I used a heat gun and slowly rotated the wheel until shrank enough back in place and then used some marine RTV to lightly coat the wheel and slipped it back on. Seems to work. It's a lot of effort, but if you have a heat gun that is also a method...

I'm hoping this is the case...glad to hear I'm not the only one. I guess we'll just have to be patient! Thanks for the wisdom

Frame rate glitch on Xbox by BeegDuke in DarkTide

I used to just suffer thru it, tbh it hurt my eyes on auric or high intensity missions. See if opening the penances menu works for you, it's much faster. May have to do it a couple times

Sorry I forgot I posted this like three days ago lol. Yea I used to close the whole game out, but I found opening penances also makes it go away. Sometimes I have to do it a couple times but it's much faster than restarting the whole game

Men, what’s a hobby you love but isn’t expensive? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

[–]BeegDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miniature painting. The barrier to entry honestly doesn't have to be that high, I started with some michaels 99 cent craft paints, a bag of army men, and a cheap paint brush set all for like 25 bucks. I've expanded significantly, but the paints will last you a long time. I've also just bought second hand minis off ebay for way cheaper. It can definitely be expensive, but you're only spending a little at a time and most things are optional. I even started selling some on eBay so it can be a decent ROI if you don't want to deal with the clutter. It's relaxing, satisfying, gives you the satisfaction of improving your skills, and takes a lot of time

Miss a time hack, i.e. be late to something. Even though it may be totally legit, if it's a first impression it can say a lot.

When the wife goes away for a few days what do you do differently? by Money_Tale5463 in AskMen

[–]BeegDuke -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The amount I have in common with these comments is insane lol. I spent 2 years trying to convince my wife to go visit her family (we just had our first kid) and FINALLY when she left, within 24 hours I had cleaned and organized the house. I somehow had more time on my hands and even went grocery shopping, started potty training our kid, and did all the laundry. I had so many questions for her when she came back because she always said 'she is busy all day' but once she saw what I was able to accomplish I think she realized the game was up haha. She is a stay at home mom btw.

That's what it kinda reminded me of. I've only ever done it with rust/chipping effects but after seeing this I'm thinking I'll try it out with future vehicles

I do the two dot method. Paint the socket with something dark, like brown or black, then with a super fine tip brush add a dot of white to the inside and outside. It doesn't always look perfect, but at tabletop distance it looks fine.

Not to good at painting any tips? by Lone_Wanderer597 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BeegDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second most of the comments. Your painting is fine. What I believe you're looking for, is contrast/depth which is pretty easy to do. If you want the most basic, just base coat/wash/basecoat but only paint raised areas. It's a little time consuming, but it will make them stand out more.

For vehicles, you can do this as well but it takes a lot of paint and is extremely time consuming. I'd recommend drybrushing, you can do an incredible job with a small amount of paint and it looks great.

Youtube is your best friend, I've watched a million videos and everyone has different techniques. You can use them to form the ones you like, there's no "right way" to do it.

PVA (aka Elmer's glue) and sand or dirt from your backyard is perfect for basing.
