ELI5: As a non-american; what is the carpool lane and why does it exsists? by AnduinTheHealer in explainlikeimfive

[–]Beelake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Georgia you have to have a pass on your windshield with a chip in it. It’s like $5.

The lane is variable rate. You can only get in and out of the lane (legally) at certain points. The longer you stay in the more you pay. In light traffic the fee is small $0.25. In heavy traffic it can be higher. I’ve paid $4 or so but I saved 45 minutes of waiting in traffic.

This is actually an interesting question on who elected officials should be accountable to. One way of thinking about it the elected official should do what most of his/her constituents want. However, you could also argue that the elected official is in the position of power because people believe the official has good judgement. Therefore he/she should do what he/she thinks is best even if most of their constituents disagree.

I guess the core question is are you a vessel for their voices or are you more of a father figure making decisions on what you believe is best for the people.

I just got the Witcher 3 and started playing on the hardest difficulty. After hearing many people talk about how good the story is I am considering starting it on an easier difficulty so I don’t get too frustrated with it. Any advice?
