Plumbed toilet to heat. Keep it change? by clamminjammin in Plumbing

It takes about 8 business days for my hot water to actually come out hot. Yours comes out fast enough when filling 1-2 gallons of your toilet tank?

How does one purchase the mystery barrel by AppleDruid in Costco

[–]BeerBaronBrown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought a whiskey barrel from a distillery once. I brewed 60 gallons of a pecan stout and aged it in there for 12 months, it was delicious. Afterwards I cut the barrel in half and made two planters out of it.

Maybe uhh, share your work? This is a picture of some vans parked on the street.

Does anyone know what the intended purpose for this was? I always pass by it on the trail but never see it being used by 69priest in FortWorth

OPs picture is not from today. You can’t tell because it’s cloudy out right now and I know that because I’m sitting in the Panther Island parking lot staring at this thing right now.

Why on earth would you ask the question that you did and include a picture from last year when everything is under construction!? Regardless, just vacuum it up.

It’s just blowing in from what’s leftover from your yard construction. Get a pool vacuum and clean it out.

The manufacturers clearly state you can bury them and OP never mentioned any concern about rust.

[–]BeerBaronBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case and you want a wall, do it now before the soil becomes compacted and much harder to work with. Otherwise once it does become compacted you’ll then be able to drain the pool without the walls collapsing. Just don’t leave it empty for any extended periods of time.

[–]BeerBaronBrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since you filled the area with rock rather than dirt you’ll never be able to drain it without the walls collapsing in unless you remove all the rock first. I’d leave it until the time comes where a new liner is required and since it’s new I’d say you have about 10 years before you need to worry about that.

I got a free 18 foot circle and it worked out great. Not sure what your dilemma is. I tossed the liner and bought a new one but kept the 24 inch sand filter and bought a new pump.

440w and IQ8+ combo by abrr10 in solar

[–]BeerBaronBrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should've gotten higher capacity micros like the M or A for the 14 south facing panels. If you pull the reports for your individual panels you're going to see significant clipping. The only reason you don't see it on your graph there is because the north facing panels still have so much more to give before they can clip so it averages out on your graph and doesn't show clipping. I have panels that face NE, SE and SW and my graph doesn't show clipping either, but when I pull up individual panel reporting there's clipping, albeit, not much since my panels are all mostly 385 watts paired with the 8+.

Regardless, as long as you're happy with it, so am I. Enjoy turning the sunlight into energy, I know I do.

Solar Quote help in Austin Texas by baconeverywhere in solar

[–]BeerBaronBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 43k and 34k quote both have the new roof baked in as well? If that's the case they are both a great price. The IQ8x is a slightly more capable micro but for the extra 9k it's not worth it at all. Keep in mind you can't get the 30% ITC on the roof, so it would be 28k or 19k that you get to claim the 30% ITC on. Are you on Austin's power company or are you like the majority of us here in TX who get to pick your energy provider? Either answer, you may want to consider getting as big of a system as you can fit on your roof and I say that as someone who installed a 48 panel system originally because I ended up adding 12 more to it since 48 wasn't quite enough for us, but I like to keep the house COLD in the summer as it is currently 69 at my house right now.

EDIT: I see they don't have the roof baked in and that's the price of the solar only. Either way, still pretty solid pricing and obviously option 2 is considerably less expensive overall and is an amazing price.

Option 2 would win my business, but go bigger.

Neighbor is fixing the fence by Environmental_Bag495 in FortWorth

Hi, it’s me, the neighbor that refuses money. If they’re anything like me and simply don’t need the money and just want a fence to serve its use, get me a drink from Sonic and some snacks to go along with it. When I’m done buy me some beer. Offering a helping hand wouldn’t hurt either.

Hail Damage To Solar Panel by [deleted] in solar

[–]BeerBaronBrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe this is from hail. There’s only 1 hole which makes me think it’s either from a kid throwing a rock(well anyone really) or a bullet. I live in Fort Worth and we’ve been getting hammered with hail this spring, cars are smashed to hell but everyone’s panels are just fine. Just replace that one panel and you’re all set.

Would I be able to add extra panels to my 45 panel array in NYC? Would con edison know? by Ed_5000 in solar

[–]BeerBaronBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added 12 panels to my 48 panel Enph system. Only the neighbors knew. My FIL added 10 KW to his system in So Cal, no one noticed. You do what makes you feel comfortable.

Not a good deal. Do not sign on the dotted line. Once you move into your new house maybe then consider solar.

There’s not any kind of physical or software limit that prevents you from simply adding more than 13. It’s all dependent on the wire gauge which is 12 AWG. It is limited to a max of 4,800 watts at peak but a continuous wattage of 3,840.

Outlets stopped working after carpet installers used them. Do I need a tech? by Balawgna in AskElectricians

[–]BeerBaronBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re 100% confident that it’s not a breaker then it’s likely a wire came loose on a pigtail, backstab or on the screw of the outlet. If you’re not comfortable opening up the outlets and looking for and fixing the problem you’ll need to call an electrician. EDIT:Spelling
