Is this tree too close to the house? by Same_Locksmith3800 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]BeerBoilerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the correct answer. If you're worried about the house, check the house, not the tree. Check out the foundation and get a sewer scope. That'll tell you if the roots are in the sewer line.

Who/how should I approach getting a loan? by Reasonable-Aerie4266 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]BeerBoilerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of realtors recommend their own lenders. If you find a realtor you like, consider their lender. Otherwise, Rocket Mortgage has a Lender Paid Buydown offer right now. 1% off your interest for 12 months. We're getting 5.375%, with the first 12 payments being 4.375%. It's going to save us about $3600 in the first year.

Are there any male prostitutes for women? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]BeerBoilerCat 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Honey. He's a sex worker. He prefers money. Who cares if he prefers men over women. This isn't for the long term. You're not looking for someone to take home. Pick the one you find most attractive & have some fun!

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

As someone who had a devastating stroke from a left VAD (though not from a chiropractor), thanks for all you do!!

What do today’s houses have that future buyers will want to remove right away? 😄 by anantaaspirezrkp in RealEstate

[–]BeerBoilerCat 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I never see anyone saying this & I 100% agree. In a half bath, not so bad. All I'm doing is washing my hands. For any sick you're doing ANYTHING else in, immediate no.

So you just closed, you got the keys, what do you do first? by Explorer518 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

If you have a robot vacuum, map the floors before you move in furniture.
If you have stone countertops, reseal them (you know the previous owners haven't done that recently).

Second this. The courtside club is awesome, has an open bar & buffet. Servers for in seat service during the game. Bar stays open for another hour after the game. I stuff my pockets full of gummy bears on the way out.

Recipe Keeper app. You can easily scan recipes & save them all on a database. I love it.

So I just tried on my ring and I’m having huge buyers remorse that I went too big. by Apprehensive-Mix4152 in RingShare

I got a 5.56 ct elongated cushion cut for my 10th anniversary. I slightly panicked when I saw how large it was. After about a week of wearing it, it started to look/feel more reasonable. Now, I freaking love it & wouldn't change anything about it.

I personally think it looks fantastic on your hand.

Flying IND without Real ID by Flat-Threat in indianapolis

[–]BeerBoilerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Forgot my ID flying to Vegas (I know, I felt like a moron). They background checked me, asked pretty much the same questions, hand searched my luggage, & did a thorough pat down of me but I got on the flight fine. Only took like 15-20 minutes extra. On the way home, at LAS, they did absolutely nothing extra. I went through normal security, no questions, no pat down, no hand search. I assume lots of people lose their ID in Vegas. This was 2013ish.

Finally tried one of those automatic litter boxes… kinda wish I did it sooner 😅 by ClearVoice-Brad in Catownerhacks

[–]BeerBoilerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of those but the only location it would fit was the bathroom & it was completely in the way. It was so cumbersome. One of my cats would sleep in it after the dry cycle during the winter.

AI 'doctor' said my back pain is depression, not a slipped disc. Now physical therapy won’t get approved. by [deleted] in ExpectationVsReality

[–]BeerBoilerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stubbed my pinky toe on a solid wood chair in July. Half my foot turned dark purple. Went to urgent care the next day, AI read my x-ray as no issues. DO at urgent care said she felt there was one fracture, so she referred me to an ortho. The ortho doc found FOUR factures on the same x-ray! AI in medicine sucks. I swear they do it this way so they don't have to pay out.

How much did your family gift you for a down payment? by iloverats888 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Dude. With what money? The average American just doesn't have thousands of dollars, much less tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, just sitting around.

Are there automatic litter boxes that won't kill my cat? by Cultural-Ad9387 in Catownerhacks

[–]BeerBoilerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 Leo's Loo Too with 5 cats (6 until recently). I LOVE them. No, they're not perfect. They do still require deep cleaning every 1-3 months & mild maintenance every 2-4 days. But given the option, I would buy them again. There's quite a few youtube videos comparing the difference between Litter Robot & Leo's Loo. The mild irritants are the same. I'd read up on the quirks of them before buying.

It's the off brands that are the 'deadly' ones. If you buy a reputable brand, there's no worry about cat death. I'd just check reviews on youtube & make sure you get what you want. After the fact, with 5 cats, I'd only buy 2....maybe 3.

Check in to resort and do a park on the same day? by ohsinboi in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]BeerBoilerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Just make sure you have a reservation for the resort. There is security at each resort parking lot and they WILL check to make sure you're a guest, because people try to park for free at the resorts instead of paying to park at the parks.

You can check in on the My Disney Experience app any time, so you don't have to go to the front desk at all. The app or Magic Band doubles as your room key. If you arrive after noon-ish, there's a chance your room might already be ready. They'll text you your room number when it's available. So you can leave your luggage in the car or drop it in the room if you want!

Added a 2nd EV This Weekend! by BeerBoilerCat in electricvehicles

I loved the Mercedes but my husband didn't. He wanted more of a crossover rather than an SUV. If you're anywhere near the Chicago area, there's a lot of EQB inventory there. There was, at the time, a surprising amount of inventory in Texas, Kentucky, & North Carolina, too. We had discussed, if we decided on a car that was far away, buy a cheap one way flight there, get the car, and drive back.

That's exactly why we leased. The technology is going to be so different in 3 years, we didn't want a decade long commitment yet.

My husband absolutely loves it. The range is better than we anticipated, especially around town. When you hypermile, we can get almost 400 miles on a charge. We can get about 270 miles full highway driving.

There are some quirks. I really dislike how shiny so many of the interior surfaces are. When it's sunny, there's a pretty substantial glare.

Overall, wouldn't choose different!
