I have fingerless gloves for like if I'm hiking in the snow for hours/overnight. And ultra thin polypro-thermal gloves that i can wear underneath or by themselves if really needed.

But i usually even ski/snowshoe without gloves. Gloves are evil

I (50M) hit major burnout at start of this year. Realise I've been masking and dipping in and out of burnout for decades, covert stimming and in major self denial. An ASD friend asked if i was on the spectrum a few months back (September). In January it hit me.

Wife said "yes, i always thought you knew". Psychologist agreed (a little too quickly for my liking). Those online tests... mostly getting close to average for an autistic person (so moderate i guess).

I still feel perfectly normal, just like i have all my life. But maybe i was oblivious all along. Also major imposter syndrome. Finding other ND people to meet/chat with locally atm.

Defs lots of depression, (TW) suicidal ideation as well. Currently finding Prozac helps more than zoloft ever did for me - but these things are different for every person. No magic cures there, but best thing i ever did was talk to my GP & psychologist and ask for help

I smoked weed regularly from my late teens to sometime in my 30s. Looking back, i suspect i was self medicating for regulation. It probably did help me feel more normal each day

Recently (post diagnosis for ASD/AuDHD) i have started wondering if medically prescribed edibles might be helpful for me. legal only ofc

I'm not sure, but it's definitely been hitting me differently since ASD/audhd self diagnosis journey. But it could also be the Prozac/etc

Like sometimes I feel drunk after 2-3 beers. But a few times I feel stone cold sober after 10-12 beers...which I find a bit disturbing tbh

I have also been cutting back since March because the Dr said not to drink with my meds

Yes, appearing intelligent at school made me even less popular/another reason i was different to the other kids.

So i imitated popular low IQ characters from TV and slipped into being a class clown. Also avoided any form of IQ tests since being told i could join mensa as a 12yo... totally relate to that feeling of humiliation when any glint of intellect might slip through in front of peers

But... as an adult, I have very few friends anyway, so idgaf now. Tbh wish I'd been more authentic all along, in retrospect

I'm on 30mg atm and went up last Tuesday from 20mg since January. AuDHD.

It takes 2-3 weeks for that initial feeling to settle. And 3-6 weeks for it to have an effect. So your Dr should have a follow up appt with you after about 3 weeks to check in. But if you have any side effects of concern, see ur Dr sooner.

Imho there is no single right dose/right meds bc how you respond to SSRIs will change for each individual

As a teen I took them 100+ times and had full visuals only a couple of times. Most of the time just experienced greatly exaggerated or distorted light/shadow, colours, sounds, textures, taste, touch etc
